Yes, sadly I knew you would be away Peter, and I gathered you would be off to sunnier climes Mike!
My father and father-in-law have well and truly had their racing appetites wetted again after Mallory and Oulton over the weekend so I may have to take one of them on the Saturday and the other on the Sunday! |

I dont think I'll be at either as the NSU had engine failure.

I was lucky enough to watch it debuting at Silverstone in 1983 so have a soft spot for this particular car. Good luck for Donington, hopefully in some autumn sunshine! Geoff |

Donington
A strange thing, masters told me this meeting is a `noisy` one, but still the 1970`s celebration race is limited to 105 db !

Funny you should say that as this I think is something that needs looking into. Donington have 109 decible signs up all over the place but the scrutineers insist on 105 as apparently thats what it says in the Blue Book or something????? Confused you will be! Wayne Moosehead altered his Mustang exhaust to the 109 limit and failed scrutineering and had to bolt the extra mufflers on to pass.

The difference between 105 and 109 is not so much. But to have several races with cars such as Can-Am, F1, etc....probably over 130 db and then have a 105 db race in the middle !!!
Surely someone has made a mistake................... |

I am not so sure you are right there Alex about the difference between 105 and 109 because I believe the measurement is squared or something.

Yes you are right Al, more difference than it sounds. But my car was tested once at Brands & was 135 db, so DFV`s & Chevys will be at least that.I just don`t get why one race out of a days racing has to be quiet.

I think clarity across the board is needed Oulton gold cup there was ment to be a noise limit for JD classics only for me to rock up with my silenced NSU then told nar..... Not testing them today! I'd have turned up with its megaphone on if I'd have known!!! That would have woken a few people up.

Are you out at donnington? Out of interest do we have any idea who will be attending Donnington Master 70s touring cars? I may go watch on Saturday if there is a reasonable grid. NSU will be out testing over winter, New engine parts are being sourced as we speak, assuming 'the germans' allow me to buy parts..... (JUST BEST NOT TO ASK OTHER WISE ILL STAND ON MY SOAP BOX AGAIN) Think i need a simpler car with more readily available parts.... (oh wait whats that under cover at the back of a very secure garage......... Not another GRP2 touring car needing restoration, YEP sure is) NSU For sale in 2013 me thinks! |

Funny u should say Ford! I happen to have a ford under cover awaiting restoration Im led to believe its a genuine factor car built for a privateer!
It's a grp2/4 car for either etcc or drm! That's all I'm saying as talk is cheap until I can get on a do some research which won't be til 2013. When its restored you will know! |
