Best Stopwatch?

Having flagged recently I'd forgotten how much fun it was and have decided to do lots more next year.

As Christmas is looming (), can anyone recommend a good value stopwatch that:
  • Can count down the remaining race time +
  • Counts the decreasing gap between the last car and the race leader +
  • Plus any other gizmos you find useful?

And, yes, I know most flaggies do this in their heads. I just haven't got that kind of head.

Thanks guys.

Phil

Chigley should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Have a look at OMP, I use the OMP 60 memory and it works for me, it helps when you're blue flagging by lap times.

Try this place... Selecta super 60 is the same as the OMP one that Chigley mentions... But probably cheaper

I bought a really basic one from Decathlon. It was cheap, has nice big numbers on it, is very simple (no complicated multi-button functions)...

...and it's orange. Works for me!

You don't have to pay a fortune for a good reliable one and you don't need loads of other gizmo's that you will never need (like a mobile phone).
What is more important are figures that you can see in different light situations.

The orange one my learned colleague The Wanger of Snoz refers to is very basic and only records total time and split time. It's been four years since I last waved the sacred cloth in anger and I'm rusty and need technological refreshment.

So to get a lap time when the leader goes past I have to click it (to stop it), reset it to zero, and restart to get the next lap, by which time the leader is already 100 yds away so I'm just guessing. I'd at least like a clock that gives me a lap time AND sets a new lap-clock going when I stop the previous lap. This usually means a clock with three readouts - one is the current lap time, then the last lap's time, and the total elapsed time.

Even a divvy like me can see/count/guess at the ever-decreasing gap time as the leader catches the tail enders, so perhaps I've answered my own question.

However I'd like to see what the experts are using just the same.

The one I recommend above does that and is reliable... It also does countdown for a timed race... It is a cheaper version I believe of the Branded OMP one also mentioned..

exflagman is heading for a stewards' enquiry!
I used to use a Casio STR1000 wristwatch that had stopwatch, lap timer, split times, lap counter etc. The great advantage of it was that it had a clip-on cable attachment like a camera remote, that fitted round your first finger and allowed you to operate it single handed whilst flagging. I have not seen anything like it recently, did google it and someone in the States was asking $100 for one on Ebay.
