it's chucking it down this evening, and it's cold so it'll take the circuit some time to dry off. should be ok by the time the 3.5 cars qualify though.
the new rs one thingies look absolutely SUPERB on track. not exaggerating one bit. fantastic looking cars, even with some of the dubious paint jobs... |

This sounds pretty scary to me, a little too close for comfort - Pietro Fantin is a very lucky boy! Quote:

Vaxiviere on pole from Visser and Latifi! Latifi has always gone well here, whilst I think Visser had a good weekend here last year. Should be an interesting first race.

2 DNS, and taken out of the two races she started, which didn't help.
According to Autosport her backers asked her to withdraw from race 1, which I find quite surprising since there's usually plenty of passing and attrition at Spa, so starting at the back isn't the end of the world. |

Probably some meaningless protest. Rules are rules. Not a benefit for anyone involved. The backers may as well be seen than not, no matter where on the grid.
Good race for Vaxiviere, Jaafar right up there again, Stoneman looking like a podium regular. He needs to win soon though. |

What's that, 0.8, 0.9s for Rowland on pole? Awesome stuff. A win here would be beneficial for his season, he's surely got to get one soon.

He beat Tio by just 0.062s and after the checkered flag had come out!
Jaafar has been put to the back of the grid for a technical infringement so it's a massive opportunity for Olly now. Apparently DRS use is free during race 2 because of a technical issue, could be a fun one! |

Vaxiviere on a charge now, could get de Vries for 2nd. Rowland has this though.

Rowland dominated, it was only close at the line because he backed right off towards the end of the lap.
Those using the low downforce setting killed their tyres it seems which is why Stoneman struggled at the end I think? Reckon Dean's still playing himself in a bit, he's not into his stride yet. De Vries showed much better this weekend and he needs to keep that up. Ellinas ought to be up there more often, he's quick enough. Merhi is having a shocker, what can he do, something clearly isn't right with that car.... |

Ellinas was also up there on the grid in Monaco before being destroyed by Vaxeviere's optimism on the first corner

And Tio was also tagged by Dillmann in the first race at Aragon which put him out of the race. He seems to be one of those drivers who sometimes gets more than his fair share of bad luck (losing the MRF Challenge title for example). Spa was a definite step forward so hopefully that first podium is just around the corner.
As far as Merhi goes, whilst I agree the car is far from sorted, I do think that his F1 activities must be having some effect on him (in fact, he's told Autosport that since Melbourne he's lost four or five kilos!) There's the constant travelling as well - he's just raced two weekends in a row and has another three consecutive weekends of racing to come (assuming he keeps his Manor seat for the foreseeable future). I suppose in an ideal world he'd like to concentrate just on F1, but you've got to give him credit for not wanting to let Pons down. |

He's clearly not happy about how things are going at Pons so far, and we'll see if he stays with them until the end of the season.

Jaafar's certainly making the most of the team switch.
