Historic Racing Videos and Onboards
As I've been posting a lot of Youtube links to videos and onboards from the world of historic racing and possibly overdoing it a little on threads that are more for discussion I thought why not just create a thread around it.
Any video from any year is greatly accepted. Maybe even some gems. So to start of I am linking in a video of Andrew Bentley who was testing the Moto Historics prepared Jaguar XJR-8 at the start of last season at Spa Francorchamps. Enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1c_9S7kHjA I may add facts about the cars shown if wanted . Basic at best I know but don't want to overkill on first and maybe only post. |

Hmm.
I suspect not quite what you had in mind Will but interesting nevertheless (I think). You might enjoy it on a couple of levels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iAc3qm0d-I Brands Indy Lap record time comparing in car and sim racing. Same driver. |

Thanks for contributing Gerard.
That was a very good watch. No words to describe those cars and drivers. Here is a third video I thought would be good to share. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAr5oGSIJRI The noise, absolutely incredible, one my parents remember fondly. Can recognise Ian Titchmarsh voice aswell I think. |

I think Scott is in quite an interesting position to comment in this particular case. It's interesting that he seems to have recently become quite serious about Sim racing as a YouTube channel. With the FIA making Formula E a world championship I wonder how long it will be before there is also a SIM channel official World Championship for various categories as well? Will Ferrari get involved? ETc., etc. Sorry Will, did not mean to hijack your thread but I thought it was interesting. |

No problems Grant. There is lots of different championships.
Even a Sim 24 Hours of Le Mans. Talking of Ferrari here is a video of Bob Earl driving a Ferrari 512 M round Le Mans at the 2012 Le Mans Classic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9mGrWUsFqg Thanks 'rbs' for the contribution. Classic Saloon car racing that. 16 mins flew by for that one. |

Just saw this pop on Masters Historic Youtube page.
In this episode, Masters Founder (and regular driver), Ron Maydon, talks to ex Le Mans Driver and MEL Sporting Director, Nic Minassian, about the past, present and future of the Masters Endurance Legends Race Series as well as what’s in store for 2020. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pE-k...ature=youtu.be |

Thought it about time we had something from Strylya, so here we have the last few laps of a wet V8 Supercar race supporting the 1994 Australian GP in Adelaide.
Quite exciting racing with Larry Perkins trying his best to win.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nflj21etu5E (Will, not sure if this is what you are looking for as it is not really Historic Racing Today.... but its is a bloody good race from history and worth a watch. Oh, and the commentator is a very excited Darryl Eastlake (who sadly recently passed away) Last edited by E.B; 4 Dec 2019 at 15:04. |

Time for a recent Touring Car Onboard for you lot .

Merci E.B, très sympa. Je suis juste un peu déçu par le résultat, you do know I'm more Holden oriented rather than Ford… GM engines are really great, always the best. As to one other vid, Ric Wood or not Ric Wood, very disappointed by the lack of double-declutch… Will tell him about at NEC or during my next engine rebuild…Stockport is next door to mine, ya no…

Another one from downunder....
Phillip Island Historic meeting 2013 when they had a special invitation class of Can-Am and big banger Sports cars. An awesome grid of cars I had the privilege of watching live. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et3aXKOIsg0 And one for Gerry Mo from the same meeting. The glorious sounding Matra MS670 V12 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UTkAmLnsC4 |

Tom Walkinshaw with the Jaguar V12 XJS qualifying lap at Bathurst back in 1985 (in the days before they added the Chase deviation half way down Conrod Straight, so has the full length Conrod). He set pole by over a second, from the other Jaguar..... On two wheels through McPhillamy is not anything you see everyday!
I think this might him been his first visit to Bathurst, so not bad for a 'rookie' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9I7GWllPFY Edit: Just checked and it was his 2nd visit... his first in 1984 saw him break the clutch on the grid and not take part. |

Merci beaucoup, E.B, what a reminder! The first batch of Matra, if I'm correct, didn't use exactly the same exhaust arrangement than the one they had at the end.
I had good blokes at Matra team one the seventies and specially a very close relationship with Jean Pierre Jaussaud. In '74 I was a bit confused about Le Mans track and went to him asking for help - meaning drag and right apexes-. Very friendly he told me: "OK its a dark night, just follow me and you'll see!" I can't forget those moments and the song of those wonderful mermaids in the Hunaudières. How an intense week of racing can fill a life, I can tell you about… Souvenirs, souvenirs! |
