Alfa 147?
I'm hoping to buy a 147... I reckon its a cool car, anyone have any opinions or recomendations of what else I should test drive that competes with the 147?

For that sort of price i would consider a used Subaru Impreza WRX, large enuff to be a family car and quick enough to be fun
But I dont like the new Impreza's - they look like an old Toyota Corrola. |

You are a lucky so and so BeerMonster.
I'm in love with the 147 (and the Maserati Spyder, but that's another story). I reckon it looks gorgeous, and from what I hear it handles well, goes well and keeps the best bits of old Alfas, without the other irritating parts of old Alfas. If only I could find AUS$40K. |

Well I think I'd rather have the 156, which I almost bought one of until the Alfa Salesman left me sitting in the showroom on my own, with just a bunch of brochures to read, while he finished his lunch...
However, the 147 isn't bad, unless you look at it from the front. Not my cup of tea really, but alot of people I know who have them say nice things |

Mac, for that kind of money you could get yourself a WRX. OK, I know everyone else has got one, but hey, there's a reason for that.

I'm all for the European cars. Japanese cars seem to lack a bit of passion. Don't get me wrong - if I did have $40K, I'd be visiting the nearest Alfa showroom, Mazda (MX5) showroom, Nissan (200SX) showroom and Subaru showroom. Though, it would probably come down to 147 vs 200SX.
147 - Gorgeous, sounds great, handles well, though not exceptionally hot. MX5 - Handles amazingly, rear drive, convertible, though lacks practicality. 200SX - Fast, balanced, fun, rear drive, powerslide happy, though only 2 doors. WRX - AWD, fast, steers well, practical, dulled down a bit, everyone's got one. I'd love to have the choice though! |
