Getting Sponsership

Can anyone here give me some good ideas on the best way of securing sponsership or have any advice, web sites etc etc. I have told by some to go to local companies and some to large companies. Has anyone got any pervious experience of gaining sponsership that they could share please. I am trying to raise around £10,000 by 2003. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps.

Hello Rahan and welcome. Sadly there are no hard and fast rules about finding and keeping a sponsor. It's a very hard task as there are so many other after the same money. Local companies are a good place to start, try to find some link to the championship/ type of car you driving. It may be worth you while investing in someone to prepare you presentation for you or at least to give you advice on the best way to prepare one. One thing not to do is to contact anyone already connected with motor sport as it's a waste of postage. Hope it's been of some use. best of luck..........brh

Hi Rahan, glad you have not given up on racing. Getting sponsorship is not easy! We tried to raise a budget from company's but it was hard going. The way we have now gone about it is to attract a smaller budget from several firms. We now have seven company's giving us support and it is much easier asking for, say £2,000 from each company, than asking one for £14,000. Keep trying and something will come up.

Yeap I agree with race team, lots of smaller incomes is the best route, more likely to get some sort of funding that way. Best of luck though.
