Scalextric Rally / Rallycross
Next years Scalextric releases have been announced - Audi Sport quattro, lancia Delta S4, More Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts (the Mk2's obviously being the best cars Scalextric have ever made ), RS200 and a 6R4 - Lawrence Gisbsons 6R4 to be precise - how good is that?

Sadly no proper Rallycross Cars announced in the 2015 range today, but there is the 1979 John Taylor Haynes rally Escort, that is often displayed in the Paddock at Lydden.
http://www.scalextric.com/shop/new-f...kii-c3636.html And they are producing a 205 T16, so come on scalextric how about a special edition of Matti Alamaki cars, now you have moulds for both a 205 and S4. |

If several people wrote to Scalextric you may be surprised by the result. To your point once they have the mould it is only a matter of licensing issues. I couldn't identify the new rally 6R4.
There is a guy who makes custom rallycross cars on ebay and he has made some really good cars in the past. I have a lot from him (I am so sad!) including an Alamaki Delta S4 Mark |

That is actually Spanish Scalextric, SCX. Known as Scalextric in Spain only, but SCX everywhere else.
I work for the UK, original, Scalextric and we do have a Rallycross effort this year! Bjorn Skogstads 1991 RS500 in its none cigarette 'Came 1st' livery: https://www.scalextric.com/uk-en/for...-came-1st.html It may be of interest! Simon |

A couple of years back there was a "Rosie" Pat Doran's RS200 listed, but I don't think it was ever released. Any chance of one in the future, fingers well and truly crossed! |

There's a guy selling a lot of custom made rallycross slot cars on ebay - everything from Schanche Escorts through to Godfreys Fiesta, Doran and Carnegies Fiestas. Impressive but pricey! |

Really surprised about "Rosie" though, and wasn't aware pre-orders determined if a model was produced or not. Is that customer pre-orders or shop pre-orders? Have to say I would of thought the Pat Doran RS200 had everything going for it. Firstly you already have the tooling. Its "GROUP B", the car has a name "Rosie", unlike many, in that colour scheme its body shape matched the rally version, though she did sprout all kinds of wings and splitters when Pat brought her back to Rallycross. With Liam at the wheel she probably did the most impressive lap around Lydden last year of anything that took to the track. And unlike many of your models, the car is still active today so can appeal to a range of generations for those that saw her race in anger to those that watch her demo in the present day, and she often features at the sell out Goodwood Festival of Speed. If anything I would of thought it would of sold better than the "Hoppy" version, as would appeal to those that saw her race in Europe as well as UK. Oh well.......... at least there has been an XR3i in John Welch STP colours, the Steve Palmer and Barry Squibb Escorts, the Gollop and Gibson 6R4's and the Schanche and Hoppy RS200's, and a Quattro that looked very similar to Arnesson's scheme, and the Herbert Breiteneder Sport, so Rallycross hasn't done too badly over the years. |

I'd have thought so - certainly the scx cars work on analogue Scalextric. Presumably you could add a Scalextric chip to the scx car (might involve some soldering unless the chips/sockets are compatible).

The SCX cars would not be digital plug ready. In theory you could fit a scalextric digital module BUT, I can think of 2 issues. 1/ Scalextric used to make two retro fit digital modules, but only the single seater version is now on their website C7005 and listed as out of stock. 2/ Scalextric UK stopped making 4wd cars, the original Quattro and RS200 were based on the Spanish versions and had belt driven front wheels. When Scalextric re made the RS200 it was two wheel drive only with the space between the slot guide and the motor where the digital plug could be fitted. SCX went better than the belt drive and had shafts to both front and rear wheels, starting with their Celica, and think they were on their more recent Fiesta Rally Cars. So anything 4wd, shafts might get in the way of fitting the sensor and the module. I'm not sure what the issues were with SCX, but they did stop producing for a while. They seem to be back, and the Lancia Delta isnt 4wd, so they may have dropped that feature with the Fiesta, so the Audi S1 Rallycross cars may not be 4wd, making retro fitting a digital module more likely. But could involve drilling the chassis for the sensor and soldering the module in. |
