DJ chews "The Fat"

Anyone see Dick Johnson on "The Fat" on Friday night?

Impressive performance especially considering the absolute numbskull questions on the sport from some of the ball sports freaks.

EC hot lap for one of them was classic- "I can't believe some people do this for a living".

I would have killed for the same chance.

Fat is a good show, but none of them have a clue about Motorsport. Murray Walker was on there last year remember - it was obvious half the panel didnt even know he had retired

Wouldn't watch the show unless a motorsport person was on it.

DJ does a good job, but he probably knew that what he was saying wasn't going to get through to them. The audience seemed, by the amount of applause and cheering, to be thoroughly aware of who he was, what he represented in Australian motorsport and were pleased that he was on.

Being the 3rd most-watched form of sport in Australia, it is high time that the leading figures of the sport are presented to the public through a wider medium than just the usual ads for tyre centres and petrol.

Some of the leading drivers right now would struggle to be recognised in a line-up.

Lowndes and Skaife would be recognised but maybe not too many more, I would suggest.

I saw DJ on Sunrise last week, promoting the TV show he is on, Australia's Worst Drivers. Actually Seven have had a few items about motorsport in the last few weeks. Apart from Procar, they had Brock on Sunrise the other week talking about his return to racing at Symmons, and they had Lowdnes on Sportsworld talking about his Island win.

As for The Fat, i can't say i've seen too much of it. The first i knew it existed was when the reverand gave it a serve in AA a while back.

whenever I see Dick on TV I am trully amazed at how, uncomfortable he seems. Not in race track situations but in a studio he just really seems nervous. Lets see how many people abuse me for that observation

I won't abuse you at all- he does look a bit uncomfortable away from his natural environment, but he does make sense and presents his views with some authority.

The more drivers on TV talk shows, the better.

Agreed as long as they are on to talkto knowlagble people about racing. I mean Rebecca Wilson (Mark Skaifes sister) on the Fat is a self confessed Motor Sport hater

...and he took issue with her on the episode you speak of about how she once told Craig Lowndes she hated motorsport. He tried hard to convert her.

Judging by her amazement at one Steven Johnson's 9-5 weekday at EC she hasn't yet changed her opinions totally but she is awakening!!

Crash the only reason to watch the Fat is the hope that they have Kerry O'Keefe on as one of the panelist

Kerry and Jeremy Sims made a great combo on last nights show. They both got to the crux of the issue in a very funny way.
