Larger LM grids
I've heard rumours that the number of staring places at LM may be increased in the coming years. Anyone heard anything?

Yes, I heard! But where? I think it was in one of the topics on this forum.
An increased grid would be nice. |

I'd like it to return to the 55 (pre starship). I see no reason why not (apart from pitlane). A bit of work may get a few more pits in now the FIA have ditched the maximum pitlane length rule.
The circuit is big enough to cope. |

If Sebring can cope with 60+ starters, surely Le Mans can cope with up to 70... (assuming they can squeeze in enough garage space)

Fantastic news, it's sad that grid sizes are being reduced in motorsport over the last few years/decades.

thats good, maybe TVR wont be the slowest, and Morgan can come back, they need to increase the GTS class, thats where the fun is.

I'll be glad to see more starting spots, but just 55? Take a look at Nurburgring-210 cars!! How long is that pitlane?

The real problem is the Ford Chicane. If it was like it was before they had it then they would have no problem with the extra cars.

But with 55 cars instead of 50, we may have 1 bonus car in each category... including a Morgan !!! |

The problem is to slow the cars at the entry of the pit straight : if this option had been kept, the cars could have speed at 330 km/h at the end of the starting straight line... and that's not what they wanted... Anyway : even if we all want more speed and performances, FIA and ACO are agree to slow the cars... that's how things goes... Last edited by Fab; 1 Jul 2003 at 05:02. |
