NOOOOO!!! That's not what I needed right now. Well, at least we know Sebastien doesn't want to be there, right?

Hopefully this is just for the Indy 500. If I read the artical properly it is...but with CART in turmoil you just don't know.

They should split that up, let Carl go to the IRL and have Paul Newmann run the show, maybe with another partner....Andretti? That would be better...

If Carl goes to the IRL, Newman certainly won't follow. I'll put money on Newman/Andretti racing!

All it is for right now is a try at the 500 and maybe Hass wants a back up plan if Cart gets no new ownership and runs out of money. But yes Paul will not be content to run IRL ovals, he has racing in his blood and needs more than just turning left.
besides, going one off to Indy could be just to whoo more sponsors who were looking at Coming to NewmanHass at CART next year...an Indy 500 drive could be just an extra incentive |

I would be very concerned about all this negative publicty surrounding CART from the teams in recent times if I were a CART shareholder.
Its as if they are talking down the share price of MPH I presume to get a cheaper buy price for the mob trying to take CART private. Even if that wasnt the intention, it seems to be having that effect. Here's me wondering if the SEC/NYSE are interested in such things? |

Yes I saw it. Can't say I like it though. I guess time will tell what really ends up happening.

This is all Haas, not Newman.
And as it stands right now, it's all about a one-off. I just wish that he had gone ahead and tested the car without issuing a statement to the press about it. Rush's post is way out-of-line for a CART forum, and sometimes I don't understand why he's not escorted out of here. |

This belongs in the IRL forum. There's no need for it to be discussed as a CART issue, because ther'es no suggestion of Newman or Haas leaving CART. I think Paul Newman has even said that if there's a CART in 2004, he'll be there.
It woudl be great for Newman-Haas to enter a car in the Indy 500. It's a shame the 2003 race lacked both its defending polesitter and its real defending champion. Plus it'd prove that CART still has some teams that can take the rest on. |

macdaddy, you're right... rush1 can bash Cart all he wants here, and the mods don't do a thing about it. The IRL forum mods however take care of business and don't allow the Cart bashing. It's a shame it can't go both ways.

My only question is what does this mean for Lola vis a vis their IRL chassis project? But I agree, this is in the wrong forum.

I imagine that's more a matter for IRL management... probably as long as Lola are in Cart, they won't be in the IRL. From what I've been reading, this is Newmann-Haas getting some back up in case Cart is not around next year. Carl Haas said on the TSN article that if Cart was around, they'd race there.

Yes but we all know the CART teams that initially limitated their IRL effort on INDY500: Penske, Andretti, Ganassi, and now we know where they are...
Let's hope Newman will follow Rahal's example. |

Just because rush1 posts here doesn't mean you have to respond to her posts. Let her have her say, ignore her, and move on to something important.

Does that policy apply to trolls too? If I went into the IRL forum and told them what I though, I'd be edited (and rightly so), so why does this have be a Cart bashing forum, rather than a Cart Racing forum?

Has anyone been in contact with the moderators concerning the issue that you raise? They may have issued warnings, unbeknownst to us. However, the moderators live on the other side of the globe, so they may just be asleep.

True, we really do need a North American mod as well, we pretty much agreed on asking a member to become a mod (not me, a level-headed member that posts here regularily ) when I was still on the staff here, but I guess that fell to the wayside. Hopefully it'll be brought back up though.

Would everyone please send a "Warning" about this to the Moderators? Perhaps something could be done.

If there is a CART Newman will be in it. I still believe that he will be one of the new owners with Gentilozzi.
btw, Wonder when they will officialy announce the addition of the Miami race in Sept. |

This just got me to thinking and I have a question. Is Haas still the North American distributor of Swift chassis'?
The article stating that they have not announced a chassis made me wonder if there is a possibility that Swift may be developing one for IRL use, Junqueira is just the test pilot and that they could roll it out at Indy next year and possibly sell a few Swift tubs to the dark side for '05. That leaves Haas to sell and race his Lola's in C^RT and sell Swift's to the IRL. Who know's, maybe Hiro could make a comeback and even be competative with that lot. |

And it is worth recalling that as recently as early 2002 Swift was working on the development of a new chassis... for CART. But the demise of Reynard and all other problems faced by CART forced this organization to announce a chassis-freeze, and Swift - of course - stopped all these plans. |

Hiro "The Moving Roadblock" Matsushida wouldn't be competitive if he were driving in the "International Three-Wheeled Ice Cream Cart" racing series...
You can watch their "smooth and nerve-chilling" racing action at 4 a.m. on Speed TV during the week between Christmas and New Year's Day..... |
