Where To Watch From At Monaco?
Planning on getting tickets for Monaco next year, as a present for someone - any suggestions on the best place to watch from?

Will depend on how much you can afford. Cheapest is on the rock, where you can get a good if distant view.I did that in 1980 when I decided to go at 2 weeks notice and was all that was available. Most stands will give you a great view but not of very much of the circuit. But I think a ticket for the deal we had in 1981 then £78,now costs about a grand for 2 days including lunch!!

you can buy tickets online from the excellent http://www.visualseat.com this is the circuit themselves so you are not paying any service fees to a ticket broker or anything
I think they don't usually go on sale until January or thereabouts but you can still get a very good idea of what the views look like |

There's also a ticket service advertised on the forum. Keep an eye out whilst you're in here.

Thanks, not planning on going to the race itself, just a bit out of my price range though will prob try for qualifying or the Thursday depending on what format they use next year.

I went to Monaco back in 1990. Seating for the practice day was in a grandstand just to the left of the swimming pool, where you could see the cars coming out of the tunnel and nearly as far as La Rascasse. The added advantage was the huge diamond vision screen opposite though.
On race day, I was fortunate enough to be in a grandstand on the other side of the swimming pool, by the bridge. It was built to look as though it was actually "floating" in the harbour. No matter where you are you won't get a good view (even up by the Palace where you need really strong binoculars) but, you do get surround sound! I'd recommend it to anyone. |

You're close at most places but Casino is special. Super to watch at, grandstand set in a small park and with Restaurants behind it.

where to watch from
the only place to watch from is the pit wall.its a magic weekend, from the moment you turn up to the moment after the race when you get to drive the cars back to the paddock area and drive the first half of the lap.love the place.and i got paid to go.bonus. never saw an f1 car though.cant have it all i suppose.yeh the stand by the swimming pool looked like as good a place as any there, the second part of the swimming pool is faster now, more chance for error etc plus the harbour is just there to wander around and see the stars.

For atmosphere and speed, the Casino grandstand is a must. For the last 2 years there has been a TV screen opposite the stand too. Lounging on a yacht in the harbour next to Amanda Holden for 3 hours is good too, but you dont see much of the track action!

The best grandstands are "Tribune K" between Tabac and the swimming pool. Unfortunately, they are also the most expensive ones.

Gabrio; I think youre right, and you should know! Lets hope theyve moved that horrible funfair from the swimming pool area, that was there a few weeks ago. Not quite in keeping eh? One of the best places to watch is a beach restaurant in Ventimiglia with a big TV and Ferrari fan waiters!

Make sure you have a view of one of the big screens - it will really help with following what's going on.
My advice would be to sit somewhere along the swimming pool complex, although they've rejiggered it now. |
