VESA Masterplan - Special Event for Sandown??
AA published an article with Shane Howard professing the enlightened "with Sandowns suburban proximity, transport infrastructure and spectator facilities there is a real opportunity to develop a special event similar to events like Adelaide 500"
Now forgive if I am wrong, but didnt Sandown already have such an event. Steeped in fame and history, yes yes the memory is picking up. But wasnt it dropped in favour of another Melbourne event promoted a sneaky lot? Unless Howard is telling Cocho's (ie utter BS aimed at making himself look smart yet leaving everyone else shaking their head in bemusement) and Sandown is the place for "Grand Event" why take away the one it already had. |

That sounds interesting, seeing as Sandown lost their Bathurst curtain raiser because they are no longer interested in having motor racing at their horse track...

Word has it that the horse track will be having some more changes made to it, and at the same time facilities will be upgraded all round for the horse racing. But don't fear, it looks like the motor racing circuit and facilities will also get some work done to them.

I reckon they should run a 500km endurance race there in early/mid September with co-drivers as a lead up to Bathurst.

WTF do they think we are halfwit's??? c'mon Sandown had the 2nd biggest race on the calendar then they take it away and a little under 5 months from the time they announced the track was losing such and event they say this now who's the halfwit's, why not just left it the way it was and introduce the Clipsal style event at PI.

THe MRC (Horse peopele) told the V8 organisers that they were no longer interested in having the cars there. As a reaction, AVESCO (I know thats not what they are called anymore, I just cant remember their new title) pulled the enduro, and in order to fulfil their contract (IIRC goes to 2009) and to put the MRC's nose out of joint, they scheduled a regular sprint round of the championship.

you do realise its in the title of this thread, dont you. Have you also forgotten how to move the mouse to the top of the page im not sure how we can make snadown better than what it was, it will be interesting to see how the long weekend event goes. One of the great things about sandown is the free undercover grandtsand from which you can see most of the track. One of the negatives is you can see into the pits. its has great facilties and the atmospehere in the grandstand is great. but the crowd is limited, due to only having access tot he outside of the track and if they utilise the inside then it blocks the view of the track. |
