British F3 Thruxton
So, any predictions for this weekend's British F3 at Thruxton?
I'm going, I've just won that competition on fota.co.uk |

I can see Dirani getting a good result...the Lola went well in testing with the new aero mods, so i'll say him for Race 1. Alvaro is always going to be around, so I'll say him and Mike Conway in 2nd and 3rd for Race 1. Parente winning the second from Dirani and Lewis. In scholarship, i'd like to see Charlie Hollings get a win and Duran has been very impresive lately. Bakkerud and Dan Calrke could also surprise.

I'm useless at predictions so I won't even bother... would like to see Dirani back at the front though. Just hope for some great racing this weekend, my first F3 meeting of the year. At least it looks like the temperatures won't be quite as baking as today

A couple of (probably) irrelevant facts: Dirani was quickest when the F3 teams tested at Thruxton in April, but Parente missed the test because he did not the party until just before Spa.

Salvador Duran get the national class again, Thruxton i'm sure will suit him very well because is like some circuits in which him race in Mexico and won!!
in the Higher class i think will be Kimball but i'm curious about Dirani and their Lola, could be a dark horse |

Well, I don't really want to say who will actually win either race, but it'll be close between: Álvaro Parente, Ryan Lewis, Marko Asmer & Danilo Dirani.
and I'm sure that Salvador Duran will get the double in the National class!! (and I'm not just saying that cause he's my friend's teammate hahah) Oh yeah, and if anyone sees me in the paddock or wherever - please don't hesitate to come over I don't bite! lol. |

With the exception of the 1st round at Donington,I've noticed that both Dirani and Kane are consistently qualifying the 2005 Lola slower than Watts did in last year's Lola-Dome.So much for progress!

Carlin seem to be getting back into their usual form, Kimball and Bakkerud have been quite impressive lately, although Ihara is just a waste of a seat.

Ihara's not a waste of a seat as such - if she wasn't there, the seat wouldn't exist.

I've followed racing long enought to know that without the pay drivers, there would be no sport, but the be finishing amongst the slower National class runners in one of the best Championship cars seems pretty poor to me.

At least she is not one of the 95% spoil rich kids competeing. She has worked hard to get the sponsorship to do this, after 2 years out of competetive racing. Its good to see her compete again, considering her minimal comparative experience. In 2000 she competed in Renault with out any real race experience (other than grid girl) and improved a lot during the year. I'm sure she will do the same this year. Just because your not born with a silver spoon in your mouth (or a kart hanging of your bum from 3years of age) should not rule you out of something you love.

The 1st Race has just finished and the top 10 looked like this:-
1 Kimball 2 Asmer 3 Bakkerud 4 Conway 5 Parente 6 Lewis 7 Dirani 8 Kane 9 Clarke 10 Walker Barton Moore won the National Class. I have just listen to the race on Embassy Race Radio and it sounded a cracker. |

Some 13 years after the last American, Elton Julian, won a British F3 race, Charlie Kimball wins!

Race 2 results here.
Another impressive win from Kimball, including a new lap record. Parente dropped back after tangling with Bridgman. Asmer's consistency has taken him into the Series lead. Conway lost a place after being penalised 3 seconds for straight-lining the Chicane. |

In parc ferme, after Race 1, did any of you heard James Walker's rant about 'if he does that to me again I'm gonna throw him in the f-ing grandstand'? Who was he talking about?
Oh and does Christian Bakkerud smile sweetly at every girl? |

Well done to Charlie - he was Dan Clarke's team mate at JLR last year and it was clear that all three of Richard Dean's Ford drivers had some talent - Dan, Charlie and Joe D'Agostino.
Joe won both Ford races at Thruxton yesterday making it six wins out of ten, so another American on the way up to hopefully show Scott Speed how it should really be done! Congrats to Dan also for not letting his head get down when he had problems with set up. Thruxton is one of his favourite circuits and he was looking forward to getting some more points in the bag - but his drive to fifth in the second race under extreme pressure from faster cars behind was fun to watch.
