GTR Questions/Problems
I have downloaded the demo, also pre-ordered the game on Amazon and won't arrive until end of May. I absolutely dig the game and have a decent computer to run it on.
My question is do most of you use a pad or a wheel? (using the keyboard is frustrating) I have a logitech GT3 FF wheel that I have been told will work on PC with a download from logitech, is this true? I wouldn't mind using a game pad. So what game pads do you recommend? Thanks in advance |

I think that wheel will work yes, I use a wheel myself, i dont think a gamepad would really do the game justice

Pablo,
Any online racer worth their salt wouldn't dream of using anything but a good quality wheel. Most PC racing games depend upon a fine degree of control that just can't be replicated on any other device. GTR is especially sensitive to this. I usually use a Thrustmaster 360 or a Thrustmaster Enzo FFB if I want the force feedback. I'm keen on the Thrustmasters because the give fingertip throttle and brake control where other manufacturers force you to use the foot pedals, which I find don't have enough throw and are poorly weighted. However, if you don't mind the pedals, you could try Logitech's Momo Force Feedback which I'm told is very good and has a sequential stick shift, which some people prefer to paddle gear shifts. |

I've got a question too.......
Yes, I've finally succumbed and bought myself a copy of GTR. Only because its £10 off this week in GAME in Southampton..... Is there anything else I need/can have in terms of updates, patches and downloads? |

The 1.4 patch has been released last weekend. Other than that there a few tracks out currently and a lot of skins. Just look through the GTR forums on RSC, there's plenty going on, some good some bad...

Back to original ? though.
Will the Logitech GT3 wheel work with download, or would I have to buy another wheel? Can't wait for this game to come in... |

GTR Manager eh? Now that sounds useful. I've got Bahrain and I downloaded Brands but there was some warning about the .trk file...... The cars certainly make a good noise - being the proto fan I am though, I miss the prototypes badly........

Anyways this works just fine after i downloaded the drivers for my PC. What you can do is get the drivers now.. install the wheel and if the PC does detect it you will be able to see it in your control panel. Then logitech have the setup app which makes all kinds of funky noises and tests your force feedback when you hit the peddles and buttons. |

Thanks Cougar, that was what I was wondering! Did you get the drivers off of Logitech site or somewhere else? |

Can someone please tell me why (all of a sudden) whatever I drive in GTR, be it original or add on, in arcade or simulation, I get absolutely no dashboard information at all. What do I have to do to activate this MOTEC dashboard that the booklet talks about?

Try pressing 3 (not the keypad one). This activates/deactivates motec once in car. You may have pressed it accident!

I must admit I thought I had activated it. But maybe I did press the 3 by mistake. But would that turn everything off on the dash?

Thanks for the "wheel" help guys...
Tuesday: I got the the Logitech Driving Force working with my PC and played both the GTR demo and the GPL 2004 demo with it. Holy crap!! is that fun... the wheel works better with my pc than with the PS2 (not really too surprised 'bout that though). And it was super easy to get it going... all that worrying about jacking up my pc for nothing.. ARRRGGH, and I could have been playing GPL for the last 2-3 years. Well, I whip in to Best Buy (where I freakin despise going ) and low-and-behold they have it; GTR, I grab that puppy and I'm off to the house. The game is fantastic, having just picked up Forza for the X-blox and knowing it won't get played now for quite some time, I couldn't be happier with it. I ran Arcade mode, 3 races and finished 6-6-1st. the 550 is a dream. I'm hooked and look forward to playing online soon... maybe. Does anybody else out there stink at it?... I mean, I had the game on the easy setting and won 1 of 3 races, 2 were on the same track. [and I must admit one was Spa at night, won't be doing that anytime soon...] anyway, thanks again for the help guys, especially Cougar. |

Right, I've just recently got GTR and am having a problem with it.
I have a pretty top spec PC that could easily run the game to its maximum capabilities. I tried it with maximum graphics and occasionally the game went through about ten seconds of bad slowdown. This happens about once every lap and is disgusting to witness to say the least. I tuned the graphics settings down to medium settings all round and the same problem occurs. So what do I do to get rid of this slow down.....it really detracts from this fantastic game. |

If the slowdown is happening regularly it might be some background application messing things up. Like a firewall, instant message software or virusprotection.

Any power saving settings on?
I've always ran it at the default graphic settings. In my first offline race about half way through the screen would just freeze for about 2 seconds and then carry on and would happen randomly from then on. I heard knocking noises from the PC and thought it was the CD drive not reading it properly. It was actually coming from the hard drive. Not had anything like it happen since, can only assume the HD was powered down. |
