Get there early as the traffic and queues will be huge. Make sure you bring waterproof clothing and also sun cream as you can never tell what the weather will be like! If you are bringing a camera make sure you have plenty of film or extra memory cards as you will see so many cars you are unlikely to see again.
Most of all, enjoy the day, it's a fabulous day out. |

Gates open at 7AM and that's a good time to get there if you can.
We usually do the paddocks first thing as they get packed by mid morning. They do 2 complete hill runs during the day so if you miss any cars first time at least there's a chance to see them later on. A camera is a must as there are fantastic and famous cars everywhere. Enjoy yourself and try not to drool over the cars |

The cars are on static display in various themed pavilions, from which they emerge to do their runs. Get a programme to see who is running when, and where the cars are "pavilioned" - and if you have any superstars you want to see get to the relevant pavilion at the time the cars are returning from their runs; you can almost jump on them as they pull in! Or you can hang around for the few minutes before, as they will often chill out around the cars before getting ready for a run.
The really organized will bring photos or programmes or whatever for signing, or you can go to one of the memorabilia stalls to get something from there. If you're a Surtees fan, for example, you can spend a tenner on getting a glossy photo and hang around for him to sign. If you're into memorabilia, say goodbye to your savings. Obvious things like don't eat lunch at lunchtime. Avoid the queues as best you can. Keep your eyes peeled. You never know who is around. I bumped into someone as I walked backwards to take a photo of a Delage, turned around to apologize and saw it was Phil Hill, talking to Jim Hall, about to get into a Chaparral...on a Ford display one year I spotted David Pearson, who was just chilling by a Mercury. The funny thing for me is the runs are the least interesting part! Not many really hang them out. It's more an aural sensation. But the opportunity to get so close to some really historic machinery is one that you cannot miss. 722 is taking its last ever runs, though, so keep an eye out for that. And if you really want to see the current F1 cars head to their pitroad first, that's the busiest bit for most of the day. |

Was gonna start a thread in here to see who is going in the capacity of marshals but being as there is a FoS thread already I may as well hijack it so appologies in advance to Rick..
So.............Who's going?? What are your thoughts on the new marshals campsite?.....Personally I think it great..... It shows that someone has sat down and thought about the comments made in the past about lack of security and facilities etc and has actually decided to do something about it... A final note to Mr Green... feel free to allow your team to wander as far down the track with their brooms as they like...They can wander all the way to post 2 and beyond if they so desire .. And finally for Rick... Not much I can add to what has been said already exept for make sure you have a mighty fine time.. If rallying interests you then dont forget to venture further up the hill to the new rally stage that will be taking place. Edited to add: Should the mods feel the need to split/move my bit of waffle from the main thread then obviously feel free to do so... |

Unfortunately I shall be at Brands Hatch for the EERC/BELCAR meeting on Sat/Sun, however I will be at Goodwood on Friday. I will try and get round to the posts to say Hi and try to put faces to names (I know yours Stephen!!)
By the way Stephen, you are not alluding to the incident with the telegraph pole outside Scruteneering, are you? |

Frankly I shan't be stepping in to defend Darrell's good name....not because he doesn't have one but because anybody who crashes into a telegraph pole deserves all the grief they get!
Mind you, it was in front of the Observers briefing so he could have reasonably expected that nobody would have seen the incident! |

Darrell has been breaking rescue units again...tut tut, at least there wasn't anybody's head involved this time!!
I would go and give him a ribbing in person, but my plans to be there have been scuppered...Sam has double booked himself so the FOS trip goes out the window. |
