Points on competition licences?
As usual, post-Knockhill we have the list of penalties applied to drivers (not saying any are right or wrong):
Race 1: Aron Smith received three penalty points on his competition licence and was fined £500 for an incident involving Jason Plato; Gordon Shedden received two penalty points on his licence plus an official reprimand for an incident involving Aron Smith; Daniel Welch received three penalty points and was fined £500 for an incident involving Jeff Smith. Race 2: Chris James received three penalty points and was fined £500 for an incident involving Daniel Welch. How does the competition licence work? Is it the same number of points as a road licence and when do the points get removed? |

For MSA sanctioned events you'll find it in The Blue Book.
12 points in 12 months -> 3 month suspension. |

The penalty system should work as Greem said (with one or two exceptions, such as for exceptional hardship), but sadly the BTCC play by their own rules. Once the 3 month suspension has been served, the points count returns to zero. |

Aha! Yes, indeed, you're right.
BTCC Regs are here. Sections 2 and 4 apply. Short story: points on licence make for championship point deductions. |

At least one driver is already over the 'eight or more penalty points' limit in 2.2.1 and hasn't as yet had any championship points deducted. |

Let's hope Chris James gets a ban soon. He's a joke.

i do love all the anti chris james stuff on the net, clearly written by folk that have never met chris and base their opinions on what they read on forums. Chris is a top bloke that is living the dream by being in the BTCC, he knows he will never win or even be top 10 but is happy to be there. He winds up the veg in the net for fun and it works. Fact is that he is sound a diamond geezer as they say down sarf, the team's reaction to davey's win at knockie showed it all, I was trudging back to the car after a tough weekend and the cars were in parc ferme, as i had been chatting to the team at the weekend you could see how much the win meant, most of the team are volunteers that love motorsport it si a club level team that are doing it on the big stage, suffice to say it was hugs and handshakes all round. i am proud to call Chris a mate

Funny - I know what all the team really think of him & the way he speaks to them. Everyone who I speak to in racing has a negative opinion of him.
He's cringeworthy and an embarrassment to the series. |

well you clearly arent speaking to the same team members I was at croft and the hill, why would they volunteer and spend their own money to go and work with Chris
guessing you are/were yellow peril on .net and thus have a personal agenda against chris |

Seriously, can we just move on from this? I'm tired of reading this anti-James stuff everywhere I seem to go! Drop the agenda Alex and move on.

For the experience and to say they've worked with a BTCC team. People will use him to get on the ladder.
If I think someone is a joke in the BTCC, I can say! It is a sport after all. His behaviour to officials and to fans on twitter is awful. Who is Alex? :/ |

Any behaviour on Twitter ended several (10 or so) weeks ago when his account was deleted.

So threatening fans and being abusive to drivers is okay because his account is now gone? Okay fair enough...

Again, abusing fans and asking to meet them to sort things out? Classy.

Who cares? It's done and dusted, he was punished by Toca for the offences and we've moved on. He's done nothing wrong since that time.

I care, seeing as I was the one threatened. No apologies, nothing.
Secondly he still mouths off on Facebook and is a danger on the track. Like I said 2 more points to go, won't be long till he gets them, going by his track (or should that be off track) record... |

Yawn, change the record will you. You don't like him, yes we get that - you been bleating on about on various forums and twitter for months. Anyone would think you were obsessed.

Forums and message boards are designed for opinions. I will quite rightly air mine about a sport I feel passionately about.
