Top Teams Likely To Refrain from Running on Friday
Such a shame really. Especially, in a country where they struggle to fill the grandstands as well. Maybe they should have practice engines, but again - money is money isn't it... it would go to defy the cost cutting measures. Have the FIA shot themselves in the foot here? |

Teams save money while the paying fans get less value for theirs. Gotta love it, thanks FIA.

Friday should be an official test day and should be included in the 36 days that all the teams have supposedly agreed to.

Wurz fast in the 3rd car. Raikkonen / Schumacher fast for 6 / 5 laps each. |

Formula 1 has lost some of its value since 2004, when the engine had to last one whole race weekend. Since 2005 it has only become worse.
Max Mosley must really like these quiet Fridays, because he wants to introduce three-event engines. This will make the situation even worse. By the way, these V8-engines really sound bad. And they all sound almost the same as well. |

Ida in the Super Aguri is 8.6 seconds off the pace of the fastest car - BMW test driver Kubica...early days I know but this can't bode well for race performance?
Sato was 2 seconds faster than his teammate but still 6 seconds off the pace. Lets hope for SA's sake that they were running heavy on fuel or dragging an anchor behind them while everyone else was on fumes. |

Thanks for the info. Still, surely you'd think the more third car running the better, even for fan/promotional purposes.

Seems like a poker game so far, with no one wanting to show their full hand.

Williams, BMW, Renault, Honda and RBR have not sent out their race drivers yet in this session. Interesting choice from Williams as Nico is a rookie at this circuit and you would have thought that they would want him to get up to speed on the circuit ASAP. |

Williams still haven't sent out their race drivers. Only Webber, Rosberg, DC and JV remain in the sheds without setting a lap time. |

Those who followed the official data, will have noted AD's top time of 1.32.997 was set on his first lap of a long 18 lap tyre evaluation run, which was very consistant. Whilst in the pits his time was beaten by Alonso, then Wurz and then by Massa all on short runs, demoting AD to 4th fastest...AD then came out at the end of the session, lighting up all three sectors purple, leaving the fastest time at 1.31.353 topping Schumi's and Wurz, which were both set on that same lap.

DC was worried about engine reliability, as they haven't done a full distance in testing. It's really unfortunate for the fans, but I don't think it'll be this bad for the rest of the season, as teams will be have already revealed their relative pace, and will be more confident of reliability.
