"Lowndes Lacked Focus" - Brock

Ol' Brocky is in AutoFiction this week, with his mate Ol' Moff... talking about who the drivers of the season will be..

One of the big soundbytes generated is that Brock reckons Lowndes got overconfident around Bathurst time, too confident in himself, his team etc etc that he took it too easy, wasnt concentrating on thejob at hand, which caused the Bathurst wallbanger (which stuffed their race well before the Dumbo hit)

Lowndes always looks confident.. maybe Brock is right, he was too cocky at the Mountain, and thought he could do things with a car that nobody else who saw it thought was "right"

One of Ambrose's comments in the Bathurst press conferences was that he didnt understand how Lowndes could say his car was perfect across the top of the mountain when it had to be manhandled bigtime to get speed from it.. and looked out of control (or at least untidy) when doing it.

Will the pressure of favouritism get to Lowndes to ruin his 2006 as Brock suggests it might??

but im not sure he picked up the win in the land of auto action experts. Think Steve might have, but please the art director voted for him because he is in a black car

Paul Morris drives a black car too, with Blacktown Racing Black (matt) paintwork.. why didnt she pick him?

Kinda like the women round Melbourne cup time who pick horses on the basis of the colours the jockey is wearing

Someday the Ford bretheren will discover that CRAIG IS NOT GOD!!

I agree, mind games.

I find it very hard to believe the small advantage Lowndes had over Ambrose through the weekend caused him to get a big head.

Peter Brock, after watching the interview with him on Denton, who could possibly take this bloke seriously. For me now everything "PBrock" says is just garbage.

He certainly hasn't been to visible in the Holden ads since the split with Bev , perhaps Holden and Bridgestone have been trying to distance themselves from Mr Brock ; the only ad that I have seen him do in the last couple of years is the one of him super imposed over an unknown shed manufacturer.

Why do you think he hit the wall then?

I found the article entertaining. Whilst Brocks opinions about life leave me scratching my head, he does know a thing or two about how to drive a car.

Driving cars and thats it, there is a feeling amongst the media that if a person is a top level sports person that they become an "authority on every single thing", so the media track them down for an opinion but god only knows what is going to come out of their mouths, and Brocks interview with Denton is a perfect example.

I don't understand why Lowndes would need a Focus? Wouldn't he have a garage full of XR8's or FPV's or whatever else Ford think will impress him? Surely he doesn't need a Ford Focus as well? Or is he going to race a Focus against Rossi in the WRC next year?

Mr P. Brock isn't one of my heroes but I must admit that I was left scratching my head as to why Mr C. Lowndes was pushing so hard at Bathurst when any advantage gained would simply be lost at the next safety car interval.

VD, Couldn't agree more. Anyone who says the car & team etc don't play a major part in a drivers success is kidding themselves!! SBR are certainly the Benchmark for the time, just as HRT was for such a long period. Testament to this is the amount of supply work SBR now do for other teams... However, all reigns must come to an end....

As for Ambrose being "GOD" .... Last time I checked GOD didn't whinge if someone wouldn't move over for him much like we have all heard our little tasmanian friend do so often in the past. Craig Lowndes isn't God either.... It comes down to who is the Driver with the best prepared team, car etc & the right mind set on the day. Good riddance to "Devil Whinger"... Lets see how he likes being rubbed over in the states where its a way of life for all the Good 'ol Boys. He will be wishing he had Colin Bond's inconsistent rulings & penalties so that he might have a chance.

"Ambrose is GOD." GO AND HAVE A LIE DOWN WOULD YOU....

I'm reminded of the 1988 Monaco GP where Ayrton Senna hit the barriers just before the tunnel when leading Alain Prost by a country mile, something like 52 seconds IIRC. You will recall, that every year thereafter, Ayrton Senna never lost that race again...

Craig Lowndes - 20 times Bathurst Champ - I like the sound of that...

First year Craig gets a decent car he beats Ambrose in the Championship-if he had the same equipment at Ford from the get-go, Mr Ambrose would not be looking at 2 Championship trophies.

And marginal advantage over Ambrose at Bathurst? he was about 1.5 seconds quicker in qualy and stuffed it in the wall 6 seconds in front on lap 12 - hardly marginal stuff for mine...

Lowndes does seem to have regular indiscretions on the track. Bathurst, Surfer's Paradise and Philip Island last year comes to mind. He will have to eliminate these types of indiscretions if he wants to win the championship this year.
