Podd37 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Youngtimer Trophy

Has anyone been to or raced in the German Youngtimer Trophy? Or in any of the Dutch rounds? I would like to do a few of these next year, mainly so I can do the 500k's at the 'ring but need more info. Let me know.

Feel free to send me a PM about that. And / or have a look here. Only German though.

just about to finish my escort project for younngtimer podd !

very friendly bunch of people.

depending on what car you want to bring over you should have good fun !
i am going to have my first roll out in september with them.
6 laps of nordschleife and gp circuit combined.

maybe worth coming over for that to get a feel for your car and the ring ?

if you want some ring time before the 500k, you could look into doinng a round of castrol haugg regularity events ! pretty cheap, and lots of tracktime
on race tires !

happy for you to contact me if in doubt of anything !

Thanks for that Carsen. It looks like fun, even with my lack of German! However my car is a 1974 Fiat 128sl 1300cc in Gp2 trim so it looks a bit old for those guys! As I live in Ireland, traveling to many events is out of the question though I hope to have the car based in France next year. I can only do 3 or 4 races a year due to work so thats why track time is important!
It really all comes down to things like entry fee's, type's of tyres, what type of refueling is allowed etc. Any info you can give me would be a great help as I have no German at all. Think I may have to learn....!!!

I raced with the Dutch Youngtimer guys last year at Zandvoort - good clean fun & very friendly; grids of 35+ made up of all sorts - Mk1 & 2 Escorts, SAAB 99's Opel Commodores, Kadetts, NSU's, Dolly sprints,a mini, a metro (me!) and even a Beetle. If you go to www.harc.nl & follow the links from there you'll find their site. They seemed to be very flexible on rules for guest drivers, and I found the costs reasonable (IIRC it worked out as £250 for a 40 minute race/30 minute qual.) Their calender for this year was a bit limited as it was all Zandvoort rounds, but I see they have just added Zolder & Assen.

i am sure there could be a base for your car found in germany !
maybe that would allow you to fly in and back between races to keep cost low ! travelling is not too hard to the youngtimer tracks !

200 euro is registration fee, but with somewhat close to 170 euro discount on
entry fee for 500k ( some 480 euro or thereabout ) it pays out on the second
event !

tires for gr.2 are free !
use whatever suits you ( within the fia homologation sheet for wheels ! ).
you can use road legal tires or slicks !
actually most use second hand slicks...

refulling on the standart pumps provided by the track, or normal jerry cans only.
no fancy refuling rigs allowed.

there even is a regularity run of castrol haugg on the 24h weekend !
but maybe that gets you too much tracktime...

edit:
and your car is perfectly suited !
i hate it that they let the scrapyard cars up to 88 in now to make up the grids !
with a mid 74 you are what belongs there !

Thanks for that Phil. Glad I'm not the only nut with a small engined car trying to race for more than 10 mins! I'll be contacting that site later in the year to see whats on offer. Looks like good fun. You still at it?
