Just watched the qualifying. Mansell was unlucky, radiator failure sent him into a spin and cost him a shot at pole. It's not so bad, "only" 13th on the grid.
Looks like he will be on a "Button-esque" charge tommorow.

Yup Mansell had ECU problems this morning which meant he only got 2 laps in over the lunch break before Qualifying. Then he had a Radiator problem which kept him in the pits most of Quali. He came out, did 1 fast lap, then on the second he spun and then the car spluttered its way to Abbey where it came to a halt. Cue mass spectator surge as everyone tries to get a close up of Nige. He sat in the car until the session ended and then was towed away. Hopefully they will sort his car for tomorrow and we get to watch Nigel at his best charging through the field. Maybe we will get some rain too, just to spice things up a little.

No but the track is slowly drying out, providing it doesent rain again Id not be suprised to see some of the cars come in for a change to slicks at some point during the race, as the track dries out (providing it doesent rain again) I cant see those wets lasting.

Probably, most people have been.
Derek and Nigel have retired. There is a decent battle between Van de Poele and Cheever. Eric is loads quicker, but drops back when he goes off! He has made that lost time up again though. |

I was surprised at just how slow they were going for the first laps. It was like slow motion. I timed how long it took Johansson to get round Stowe corner and it was 35 minutes. Amazing.
Some good battles though and they appear to have found the accelerator pedal now. And it's drying ever so slightly. |

What did you expect? Its basically a bunch of old Champcar chassis with some areodynamic modifcations with some old re badged Cosworth V8's, the cars are old. Had the series started with new cars things might be differnt, as it is things are mis matched. IMO.
