Bathurst 24 Hour Race
I'm not sure if this has been covered before but I was wondering if any teams or drivers are looking into attending the 24hr race at Bathurst in November. There's a web site which you may have already heard of. Visit www.bathurst24hr.com and you'll learn about all the racing classes among other things. You'll see that there are 10 classes and Group 4 is for cars complying with the technical regulations for FIA Super 2000(2002 Regulations). I could be hugely wrong here but I'm assuming that includes the ETCC. I'd love to see 156 Alfa's, S60 Volvo's and the other's cruising around the Mountain.

Well maybe a BTC car could be adapted to Super 2000 Regulations for the race.

It's not definate that there wont be any BTCC cars racing - there is a chance that they could race under "Group Ten".

Put it this way, if you turn up with a car that seems capable of going the 24 hours, and won't be a constant mobile chicane, then you will probably be allowed in. If any of the BTC Touring teams enter, they would definatly get a start
Team B&Q would be able to enter in Group 8, as it's for SP. |

Dailysportscar.com have run a list of rumoured overseas entries - mostly GTs as you can imagine, but it does include a Nordauto ETCC Alfa (Giovanardi/Larini/Bernardoni) and the Gary Ayles BTC-P 156s.....

Yeah that is the idea of Group 10, for cars that don't fit in with the regulations of any of the other Groups

In such circumstances it's the site owners and staff who would be held responsible and not the original poster, and none of us here want to be involved in potentially costly legal action. |

It means that pretty much anything with 4 wheels and an engine could get into the race if invited. However the chances of a BTC-Touring car actually being entered are pretty much nil.
