[VASC19R25] SuperCheap Auto Bathurst 1000, Mount Panorama 10-13th October (WITH POLL)
The biggest race of the year; the SuperCheap Auto Bathurst 1000!
Will the DJR Team Penske Mustangs take a step up and take the win after a few podiums and a stonking pole position from the old FGX Falcon? With popular prince of the Mountain that is Mr. Craig Lowndes putting the helmet and suit back on for the race Enduro Cup season, will we see if he has lost none of his touch or if being retired from full time driving has dented his pace. Will Erebus shake off their last stint drama's and get redemption with David Reynolds? We will have to watch and find out. As for yours truly, I'll be at the Mountain as a punter and giving some mates a helping hand. So if anyone wants to meet the human behind the Razor nameplate, chuck me a PM and we can organise a catch up. (Beers may flow) The Mountain is calling...... |

One should hope so, or the Nissan. It would be a travesty if the Commodore with 40kg extra downforce wins with it's unfair advantage.
By all implications it means the Commodore has an unfair 40kg more downforce than the other cars, since it had matching downforce on the original VCAT test. If it matched before, and you then add more... yikes. |

If the Commodore has 40kg more downforce, then it has more drag. If it has more drag, it can't be impossible to overtake. Honestly you need an extra ******* to pull bullshit from, I think you've cleared your own. |

The Commodores seem to have had a straight-line advantage for much of the year, the little I saw of Pukekohe didn't indicate a change.

Quick history recap: the Mustang's "jumbo wing" was the first thing the parity police took away - just weeks after the same organisation approved it.

So... who is the second driver in #888 when Mr Whincup is censured?
Or will Mr Dane be in the Supreme Court as fast as a Shell Mustang to injunct the race and claim damages from CAMS? Messy.. |

Supreme court?? Whincup will be at Bathurst. Roland and CAMS will do some sort of deal where, at worst, they'll take championship points off him. They've done it before when a factory Holden driver was supposed to be suspended for Bathurst.

I'll eat my hat if Whincup isnt at Bathurst. Eugene Arocca is looking for a bit of street-cred via tough talk, but you couldnt take the bloke seriously given his track record.

It appears to have been tilted in their favour, possibly because the championship looks to be out of their reach.

They built a car in accordance to the then-current rule book.
Perhaps you'd be happier if they'd taken the Holden approach, and used a FWD 4 cylinder hatchback, like for example say the Mondeo, slapped a Falcon badge on it, and deemed it to be a 'supercar'? |

Penske built a car that exploited the soft rulebook to the limit. Even FPR didn't see the need to exploit it even further by placing weight in the mufflers. The pulling down of the front nose for aero only, side skirts and a rear wing setup that had never been seen before. Angled bottom wing plate with a turnup as apposed to flat used in the other two cars. Supercar have egg on their face as that mustang should never been signed off. It was a rocket ship, after seeing the first photo's I said no way you must be kidding they can't run that. That was without even knowing the COG numbers.
Changes for next year? I want to see the aero cut right back on all the cars. let's get back to the fastest driver in the best teams running at the front and with more passing. And not drivers looking way better than the are just by the car they drive. PS good to see FPR pulling the DJR car back in too, time they stepped up. Forda maybe let one of your mates kick me before you jump in, thanks Champ |

Lol. It has been clear that McLaughlin is one of the finest drivers since 2013 when McLaughlin won two races in a GRM VE Commodore and finished 10th in the championship in his rookie season. A far cry from Whincup's backmarker efforts in his rookie season in a similar GRM Commodore... |
