Beijing Olympic parkland circuit
I just read an interesting article by The Mole, over at GrandPrix.com, about the possibility of a new Chinese Grand Prix in a park in Beijing, near the Olympic cycling arena. The lay-out is already there, and there's even chicanes and (some) run-off. And guess who visited the cycling arena last week: one B.C. Ecclestone...
Here's the track: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2191364 |

The bottom stretch seems pretty slow

Yeah the bottom is very intricate.
I don't know how old that image is, but it appears to be lightly wooded scrubland at the time. If they are going to the hassle of having to clear some of this away to make run-off, then surely they could smooth out some of the twistier parts. There appears to be a lot of elevation changes as well, scrolling over the site with Google Earth, it would have a top to bottom difference of 32m. |

32m is not bad at all. Zandvoort doesn't even have half that, I reckon

Looks like it would make a great track, much more interesting than the boredrome at Shanghai (however i'll be re-evaluating my perceptions of the tracks in F1 next year with the new aero rules coming in).

I don't like it. Not a fan at all. Very slow at the bottom indeed, stop-start in parts.
