The Future of the Privilege GT
With GT grids dropping and the powertour package failing, what can we expect from the Privilege GT Championship?
I've concentrated on the GT class for now but any comments on the GTO class are welcome. This is the 2002 class ideally #01 Factory Lister #02 Factory Lister #03 Factory TVR #04 Factory TVR #05 Tech Nine Porsche #06 Tech Nine Porsche #07 Hopkins Quaife #08 Speedworx Stealth #09 Speedworx Stealth #10 Hayles Viper #11 Factory Marcos #12 Haynes Lotus #13 Dave Welz Porsche #14 NCK Marcos #15 NCK Marcos #16 Colin Blower Ultima Last edited by Geva racing; 24 Sep 2001 at 19:08. |

It was a shame that Calum Lockie and a few others didn't come back this year.
That would be a good field I also wonder what Atomic Kitten Racing will do with their GTS Corvette's that they are getting soon. They got them for the ISC, hopefully they might enter both of them in the GT series, maybe along with the GT3 Corvette in GTO. It would be good to see one of the Ferrari's in there too. |

I think the National GT's will do ok next year, although the PowerTour tag is being dropped the races will probably still get good attendances and the double headers with the BTCC should get some good coverage.
Alot depends on whether some of the teams graduate to the ELMS or the FIA series or stay put in the UK. Atomic Kitten have said they will try to run their GTS/GT cars in the FIA series but only time will tell... Logan |

I think that our GT series needs to take a look across the pond and see why the ALMS is so successful.
Currently we only have 2 classes in the championship, and while this does not really limit the size of the grid, it does tend to make things a little stagnent as far as variety goes (especially in GTO). Now, this is no reflection on the quality of racing. In fact it has to be said that this year has seen some very entertaining racing. But I feel that the addition of perhaps a prototype and a GT lights class would :- (A) Keep grid numbers up (B) Guarantee good, close and entertaining racing. and (C) Give less well known drivers a chance to take part in a high profile racing series. |

In europe you have the strong national gt championships ie British/French/German/Belgian GT's, as well as the FIA GT's and ELMS all competing for the same cars. OK the ELMS is a complete flop but that was partly the scheduling as it conflicted with the FIA Sportscars. |

paulzinho has mentioned them already, but Chamberlain Motorsport are set to return to the British GT Championship in their own right in 2002.
They have run the Hayes Vipers in this year. They will run their own car in the Silverstone finale. The car will be driven by Steven Watson and Xavier Pompidou. i would say 2002 entry list would be......... #01 Factory Lister #02 Factory Lister #03 Factory TVR #04 Factory TVR #05 Tech Nine Porsche #06 Tech Nine Porsche #07 Hopkins Quaife #08 Speedworx Stealth #09 Speedworx Stealth #10 Hayles Viper #11 Factory Marcos #12 Chamberlain Viper #13 Chamberlain Viper #14 Dave Welz Porsche #15 NCK Marcos #16 NCK Marcos #17 Colin Blower Ultima There will also be the GTO class cars. I think that the British GT Championship is all the more healthy, since the ISC went bang. |
