[iV8SC14R30] SuperCheap Auto Bathurst 1000, 9-12 Oct (POLL CLOSED)
Its here. The race some people wait the whole year for. Where its time for the regular fleet of 25 V8Supercars, and hopefully all 3 of their one-off companions, join to take a spin on this hallowed asphalt, to achieve their vision of success. Did Sandown teach us anything? That the top 4 cars seem to all be Holdens, with prodigious power or outstanding balance, seeing off everyone else is one view. It shows too that strategy wins motor races, be it driver selection, tyre choice, pitstop work choice, usage of rubber during the rest of the weekend. Or how to tune the car on the run when the pilots arent happy and are looking for an adjustment So many small things that the teams have control over. The 1%-ers that seem to make 888 look like amazingly perfect people, and some others not that way. Who will be King of The Mountain this year? |

Did anybody else get the impression from Sandown that the HRT cars have really got some stonk?
Whincup (and Dumbrell) seemed to have pace in hand and really looked after the car and tyres, but nobody seemed to get close to the HRT cars in a straight line. Team lineup at HRT also seems pretty strong, Murph and JC and Tander/Luff have to be strong chances. I thought Lowndes/Richards was a bit disappointing. FPR keep managing to find guys who just can't quite put it together. Steve Owen looked tired at the end of that stint when he stuck the left rear off the track? |

BJR always run well a Bathurst. Wouldn't be surprised again this year if they run towards the top of the timesheets.

I'd love Frosty to get his championship back on track and win it with Owen, but Whincup/Dumbrell have to be the favourites...

Looks like Mr Perkins has fallen out of favour.

Any odds on McLaughlin for pole? The Volvo should be fast around Bathurst. Unproven over the race distance however and they can't match the driver line ups of the 888, HRT and Winterbottom/Owen combinations.
Still I think that the Volvo is a strong tip for pole, and the Whincup/Dumbrell combination will be very hard to beat in the race. |

Both GRM Holden-skinned chassis were quick there last year.
The Volvo-skinned cars are reportedly somewhat of an evolution, on top of the well-known slippery aero and straightline speed. I'd put money on a #33 pole. |

I am intrigued that as yet there does not appear to be the Stewards Report on yesterday's 1000 on the V8 Supercars site. Why the delay?

As for Lowndes, if it was Whincup ahead of him, do you think the car would have been turned around? Last edited by johnh875; 14 Oct 2014 at 04:49. |

Yeah.... That deserved something. All the guys seemed to be going way too fast under safety car conditions.

I think Dale Wood was eliminated from the race. Not sure there can be a much harsher penalty than that
