Step-by-Step LG GT2 Corvette Rebuild
Here's an awesome thread on digitalsportscars.com showing a step-by-step rebuild of the LG GT2 Vette!
Looks like the engine just went back in this week. http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/foru...d.php?t=124902 |

So is that why they haven't run since Long Beach? Because the car was almost destroyed?

I would have to think so. From the replays, you could see the flames in the cockpit, so there wasn't much that survived unscathed.

don't know about the comparison but looks pretty damned professional to me....good stuff. hope Lou and the gang can get the car back on track in time for PLM, if they plan still competing.
the first pic on the thread gave me the heebee geebees sll over again. |

can't compare GT1 v GT2 cars and from what i can gather, they haven't raced at the same track yet to be able to compare....someone help me on this. i'd think it would be pretty safe to say that the P&M cars and quicker than the LouVette by a fair amount.... Lou's looks better, tho |

If you look at Lou's comments re tyres then he has raced at the same time as the factory. He was prevented from getting the right tyres by P &M .I do not know where this happened -hence my question of comparative lap times.

Last time LG and P&M were on track together was back at Long Beach in April. Respective qualifying times between the GT1 and GT2 cars were: P&M- Beretta/Gavin (GT1) 1m17.952, LG- Gigliotti/Said (GT2) 1m22.334. GT2 pole was a 1m20.369 (Farnbacher Porsche, Henzler/Werner) |

That's awesome! I always wanted to see how they rebuid a race car after an incident.
It seems that an incredible amount of work goes into it. |

Do you have lap times in the race--from early on compared to later on the respective tyres? What is typical comparative times of Corvette in GT1 to lead GT2 cars at other tracks? |

In general, you can expect the differential between GT1 and GT2 to shrink on a street circuit. The LG Corvette was usually in the middle to rear of the GT2 pack. A factory GT2 Corvette was on the podium today.

Mosport is Aug. 28-30, so unless it is a Satellite uplink to Corvettes at Carlisle from Mosport, as the drivers are out in the public, testing, practicing, qualifying, signing autographs and racing... I don't think they will be at Mosport.

Great video, and cool pics. Hopefully this is a ramp up to being the bee in the bonnet of Corvette Racing. To paraphrase Robin Miller, racing needs hate.

I hear what your saying, but Lou has done a lot for the Corvette community and makes a living of it. It puts vette fans in a slightly awkward position... I wish they'd get along.
