Pedro Bonnet: looking for a team were he can drive a div 1 car; unclear which races he will enter; his current Ford moves to Danmark

The 2010 French champion Davy Jeanney will join the 2009 French champion Marc Laboull and his M-Technologies team for a full ERC campaign.
Jeanney will drive the 2010 C4 and they will build a new C4 for Laboulle. Great news if all goes as planed.

Hey Fire,

I'm new to all this, so don't burn me. What happens to all the 2.0L cars from WRC? Are they ERC eligible for 2011?

I am not the right one to answer this question because I started following ERC this year but what I can say is this: a WRC car is not the same as a div 1 rallycross car.

So is that a 3 car French team in the ERC?

Will they be doing any french events?

Whats happening to their very quick Xsara that won the French this year?

No, I dont think so. I read somewhere that Stéphane Orre (M-tech) would like to form a 2 car team with Laboulle and Jeanney.

It might mean only one thing.

A few decent shells might be available for ERC, ther than that the cars are very different.

Maybe Ford or Citroen might have a little involvement as Peugeot did with the Group B cars and Ford.

But by then their Group A cars cost so much less they were simply just servicing the 205 and RSS200 and making huge money out of selling derelict parts, why not make some money!

But Citroen and Ford are going to be heavily developing the new cars.

OK thanks guys, looks like I have a lot of sanctioning bodies and regulations to decipher.

Here's the premise of the question in an example: Block runs a 2.0 Fiesta in a few WRC events. Now the Ford entry will be new M Sport cars with a 1.6L.

So isn't the 2010 car the same as what Foust runs in the U.S. Rallycross (sans restrictor)? Isn't there a batch of 2010 WRC cars that could be brought over and raced in their current configuration in the States next year?

Looks like an expensive solution to me... The 307 of Tracey is the best example... They bought a WRC only to ditch all the special parts like the electronics and the diffs. Also the engine will take a lot of work as the set up is different, not just a restrictor: turbo and compression ratio, all very different. Later Tracey had his 307 modified by Eklund which sorted it, I think the engine is now powerfull and sits north/south.

I think most WRC's will end up in privateers, clubmans, local championships or become collector items. Remember these cars will hold their value because they are road legal!

So 200-300k for a WRC + 100k modifications = 300-400k for a car that is worth just 150k afterwards?

Or buy a shell, bring it to some of the big names, spent a total of 150-300k and your done! Just for the car ofcourse...

By 3 car French team you mean J-L Pailler and the M-Tech drivers Jeanny and Laboulle?

Any chance we will see Pailler Jr or Bossard in ERC in near future?

No I was thinking of Tollemor who drove the second C4 in the erc and bits of the French this year, alongside Laboulle.

I wondered if Jeanny was going to be a 3rd car in the team at erc events? They ran 3 cars at Kerlabo this year.

Slightly off topic (and for that I apologise), but just E-mailed ERC24 to find out when we might see a 2010 Season Review DVD - apparently there won't be one this year.

Hunsbedt wants more!
"Things are not completed and there is still much work to do. I am very busy this Thursday and Friday then I will negotiate new partnerships for 2011.

The desire is definitely there. I really want to fight for the title. We are working on a two -year program. Nothing is completely validated yet but we hope everything goes as planned this week.

Obviously Hunsbedt expect to be on the lookout for a new model for 2011. "I still hesitate between a Volvo or a new Ford.
The speed and excitement and the good atmosphere surrounding the sport inspires me to continue. I also feel that I still have a lot to give even if my business does not leave me much time.

I suspect your reply might be a touch on the sarcastic side there. But yes, I think a sport looks more professional if it presents an annual DVD and other associated bits and bobs - plus it means those of us without Sky can watch the events we didn't see!

Not sarcastic - I dont have motors tv and feel the sport should leave a legacy of its events to attract new sponsors and and inspire new drivers.

I still yearn for the screensport days - when even the lydden winter series got tv coverage.

With all the editing done - I do wonder whats stopping a dvd - lack of demand? copyright?
