You can add Risi to the list for GTE Pro/Am after what Murphy/Kjos said in his latest article. Dempsey has ruled out a full time WEC campaign it appears. Is Hope Racing done in general or is it just their Hybrid LMP1 program that is dead?

They've given up with their FLM car for the last two LMS races as well, so it's a possible sign that they're done in general.

Hope PoleVision said they were developing the car further before returning in 2012, we'll see.

I think they'll have ALMS outings but not sure they'll compete for the season. Seems to me they are arguing for the best equivallency (and rightly so) for the 2012 WEC which of course includes Le Mans.

The Tribes of Miami Honda's future is dependent on how long they can hold off the law, which they've done a good job of so far... but at some point it's going to end.

I think both rebellions will be in the WEC. Seeing as they are likely to do WEC. according to the speed article.

Think Dempsey will do a permanent ALMS entry with a Lola-Mazda.

Signatec say they want to run two cars in the WEC but don't say which class.

Rumour is ORECA are going with the latest 908, could push Audi into supplying customer cars to compete for the manufactuers title.

ATM, you could argue the ILMC title means little, winning individual races being of greater importance, a World Championship is a different kettle of fish.

They helped run the United Autosports entry at Petit, don't know if that sways their interest to a certain category or make for sure, but it is experience.

Surely Porsche will find it necessary to have a factory backed effort in GTE-Pro for 2012? That was one of the big surpises this year for me, I thought for sure they would have backed one of the top teams.

Agreed. I know it's not the biggest of races but Zhuhai coming up just has a single Porsche competing. Not good enough. They must realise its value given they have committed to an all out LMP1 entry so I'd expect something next year in terms of GTE.

DAMS ran the Cadillac programe in Europe for their first 2 years , and did lots of winning in their P1 Lola/Judd GV4 a few years ago . Very good team with lots of pedigree , and been around for ages .

Im delighted for their return . It was initially set up by Jean Paul Driot and Rene Arnoux and stood for Driot Arnoux Motor Sports . Among other things F3000 multiple championships and possibily F3 too .

I'm hopeful that this ambitious assault from Toyota over a short period of time will encourage the likes of Nissan to try something similar. No need to necessarily wait for 2014 if the marketing people want to go racing.

That's exactly what a Nissan Europe source said during Silverstone at Radio Le Mans.

Yeah that was what got me hoping they could pull a programme together. Like Hindy just tweeted, they are the only ones missing from the party in LMP1 next year as it stands.

Take into consideration

ALMS champions and 2nd placed car . P1 and GT ..... 4 cars invited .
LMS champions and 2nd placed car . P1 , P2 , GTpro & Am . 8 cars invited .
ILMC champions and 2nd placed cars . P1 , P2 , GTpro & Am . 8 cars invited .
Le Mans winners and 2nd place . P1 , P2 , GTpro and Am . 8 cars invited .
PLM class winners . P1 , P2 , GTpro & Am . 4 cars invited .

thats 32 auto invitations for 55 places as I wont count the Delta wing rubbish .

That leaves 23 invites for others . Time to start limiting works entries for fairness , if for no other reason . I also feel that manufacturers should be made supply a privateer . By limiting the works effort , they would have to supply a privateer . 2 works Pugs and 1 private Pug is enough for anyone .

Michelin greenX challange not sure .

Not many places left eh !!!

Limit the factory team to 2 entries , and let them supply a privateer . That gives 3 entries .

In theory 32 auto invites but in practice many of those are duplicates and some of them will be be taken (at least the Dyson one).

I feel like GT Am is wasting entries because there has to be certain amount of cars to call it a class... If it was a cup inside unified GT class it would, in my opinion, save few spots because the entries could be then split 1/3 between the three classes. Plus I just don't see the point inviting "rich amateurs" in an era with plenty of pro entries (includes 3rd cars).

C'mon... that's easy!
How to define a privateer? Believing that Abt will have a R18 in 2012, do you define them as privateers? If most of the engineers are from Audi, and the mechanics, what will distinguish them?

There are many ways to overcome it.

I would do this:
For 3 cars at Le Mans, the third car should be a (works, semi-works or privateer) full ALMS or LMS commitment.
