Greg Hansford remembered ......
Had a chat today with a relative of Gregs. Made me remember all the great things he did on two wheels and four. Best thing was he was a terrific ambassador for the sport. Well done Greg...Tragically killed at Philip Island in an RX7.

I still have a mental image of Gregg, wheelying his H2R down the back straight at Pukekohe. Makes an impression on a young lad that thing does. Sorely missed.

As Moff said, very talented on 2 and 4 wheels.
He would be the only person to win a 2 wheel world title and the Bathurst 1000 wouldn't he? |

That 1993 Bathurst 1000 he won with Perkins was a great race.

Hansford was brilliant and is sorely missed , not only a great rider/driver but from all accounts a very likeable guy and family man, one of the worlds genuine nice guys that was cruely taken away from us.
RIP Greg |

Not too many ex-bike riders have driven in the 1000. Johnny Ceccotto and Wayne Gardner are the two other than Gregg Hansford that come to mind. And Daryl Beattie will be added to that list next weekend.
I was a big fan of Gregg's (still am really) and it was a very unfortunate accident. 275, it may be fuzzy but it's a good shot. |
