10 Tenths Formula One Predictions Competition 2003 - have your say!
Well, it might be four months until the 2003 season starts, but already now we are planning ahead for next year's Predictions Competition. The alteration of the point scoring system in Formula One will mean that the predictions for each round from next season will include the top 8 finishers, as well as the polesitter. But, should we make more alterations? Any bright ideas? In that case, you're welcome to send them to us - that is, to Bononi or me, either by PM or by email. We've set the deadline for making suggestions at January 1st.
We've decided not to make this a discussion topic in the forum. That's because we want to hear all the suggestions first, and then make our choices regarding the format for next season, after further discussions directly with the proposers if necessary. We've pretty much got a rough idea of how we want the Predicions Competition to be next year, but 400 people think better than 4, so we decided to open up for suggestions. There might be some really good ideas out there, and we want to hear them! Bononi has some ideas of his own, which he will post here later. So send your suggestions, and they will be considered. Note though that all suggestions made in the final results topic for the 2002 season have been duly noted, so you don't need to resubmit those. |

I say scap it, it's silly.
Oh, is'nt this the new points system thread? Anyways, I have two possible suggestions. Firstly, one way I've seen this done on another forum was members placing there top 6 (or top 8) like so. Points are allocated as 1 point for predicting pole. 3 for picking the driver in the correct position, 2 for predicting driver 1 postion off (ie picked driver x for 3rd and he comes second) and 1 point for picking a driver that finishes 2 positions of prediction (predict driver x for 2nd and he finishes 4th. Example: Member predicts the following Pole: M Schumacher 1st Michael 2nd Juan 3rd Rubins 4th Kimi 5th Fisi 6th Heidfeld Finishing result: Pole : Michael 1 point 1st Montoya 2 points 2nd Kimi 1 point 3rd Rubins 3 points 4th Michael nil 5th Ralf nil 6th Fisi 1 point Total: 8 points ------------------------------------------------------ Another way could be to pick 5 drivers and recieve a point for every position made up during the race from qualifying. example: Webber - (started 19th, finished 12th) 7 points Yoong - (started 20th, finished DNF) nil points Irvine - (started 14th, finished 11th) 3 points Sato - (started 9th, finished 6th) 3 points Salo - (started 16th, finished DNF) nil points McNish - (started 18th, finished 13th) 5 points Total : 18 points |
