Possible Jaguar Purchasers?

As Tony Purcell has already been linekd with a buyout of the team, I wonder who the other likely contenders are?

Arden, perhaps with Red Bull money?

The Dubai people who were interested in Jordan?

Stewart/HSBC?

Abramovich?

Personally I don't think Jackie is a good long-term prospect, adn probably wouldn't want the stress again. Abramovich would get bored quickly if the team doesn't succeed. Arden and Dubai look the most likely rivals to Purcell to me.

Ron Dennis or Renault may be interested in a junior team.

But don't rule out Bernard Ecclestone buying it.

Grandprix.com reports rumours that Canadian steel company Dofasco might buy Jaguar. Anyone know anything more about this?

What do people expect to be the price it goes for? Bearing in mind that they have the full infrastructure, probably employee contracts (some of which a buyer would wish to break), and a saving of $48m on the bond? Overall $150m?

Dofasco buying Jaguar? Talk about out of the blue!

I say put Jaguar on ebay.

Apparently Red Bull are unhappy with Sauber over their signing of Jacques before the Liuzzi test, so maybe their $ millions could go elsewhere? As Boots suggests - possibly Arden.

Not too sure of the reputation of the site though?

Here's an odd prospective buyer. Apparently Stefan Johansson would like to start a team in the future. I find that unlikely, but I suppose anything can happen.

Doubt Johansson has that sort of money...

I am optamistic that there will be buyers.. Jag is not a bad place to start for a new team.. they were firmly a midfield team..

Dan Gurney was this close to forming an F1 team,...nah!

Red Bull. Since they apparently don't like Sauber's choice of JV and the team already employs one of their drivers and weren't they tied to Jaguar & Cosworth in an earlier rumor? Seems like a strong candidate to me.

Fondmetal - it could be good news, depending on who buys them.

But I'd never celebrate a team's demise.

This thread is about potential Jaguar purchasers - you've plenty of opportunity to discuss Webber and Button in other ones!

Ok... with Flav deciding not to stay as boss of Renault after the end of next season, is there a strategic advantage in him picking up Jaguar?

It would be a short term move of course, but those Cosworth engines arent total pieces of junk...

I still think if someone buys it, whacks it on a share market somewhere for a mint, effectively pulls out their cash input, then all is not lost

And meantime T.Walkinshaw does not personally have the $$ any more to buy this outright, but that Phoenix Grand Prix seems to have access to some cash....

... hell Jackie Oliver could buy it, rebrand the team Arrows, and go again

Since we're throwing names into the wind, how about Chip Ganassi?

There was a "strong" rumor about him going F1 not to long ago, and he comes equipped with a driver, named Scott Dixon! He's America's strongest hope for an F1 team, which honestly, isn't saying much...

And the fact that Roge isn't too happy with IRL at the moment.

God, please don't let Dan Gurney try!
