I believe the first Mustang raced in Aus by Dick Johnson was ex Zakspeed in Europe.

I remember them too. Plus Jurgen Feucht's Buffalo Boots machine. Those were the days.

Sure do!!! I think that was the year that the Mustangs didn't comply to the rules fully, but the crowd loved them so they were allowed in anyway. Don't you just love the DTM!
I was a big Ruch Brothers fan, simply becasue they were clearly having a great time, and were obviously completely mad! And the cars looked and sounded fantastic too.
They actually lead a race at the Norisring just on sheer grunt, although I'm not sure what year that was.

I think that one of the Ruch brothers was last seen in the 1996 ITC driving a Mercedes.

How were Feucht and Ruch related? Did Feucht buy Ruch's old Mustangs? Were they working together to race in the DTM? It would be cool if Ruch was given an old '00 DTM car to race around in the DTM again!

Bruce and Wayne Anderson from Pinepac racing ran two Group A Mustangs in New Zealand Group A. The first was the ex Don Smith/Bo Seton car from Bathurst 1984. The second was NZ built. Both ran at Bathurst. Both are still about somewhere too. The second car was for sale on Trade Me a few weeks ago.

Here is a photo of one of the Anderson cars at the Nissan 500:

Is this the ex-Seton car or the NZ built car?

According to this piece on the Anderson/Pinepac cars, I think it's the Seton-built car:

http://www.nzmustang.com/Images/Hist...s/pinepac1.htm

Apparently they ran the Seton car at Pukekohe, but switched to the NZ-built car for Wellington, after they'd rolled the Seton car in practice

Dick Johnson gave the Gr A Mustang (s) a run during practice at Bathurst in 1984, the last year of Gr C - there are photos, the car was still white as delivered, try www.autopics.com.au

This is Reinhold Gröpper at Bergischer Löwe, Zolder, March 30th (the race date), 1986. Since he's not among the starters, this picture must be from a practice, qualifying session or warm-up session.

I have some photos of the Group A Mustang of Belmondo taken at Spa 1984 and also some of the DTM cars at Donington in 1992, send me a PM with your email address and I will happily copy them for you.

Ruch Mustang in DTM

Not sure of the year, but it was when the Alfa 155 was dominant in DTM (1993-4?). I have a video of the season review, and at Norisring (short track, but with two long straights before and after the hairpin), Nicola Larini took three laps to 'lap' Ruch. He was able to outbreak the Mustang into the tight corner on each of those three laps, but be overtaken again on the following straight. The sideways in-car footage from the Larini car clearly shows the Italian looking across in amazement at Ruch, the first time it blasted past him. Priceless!

Here's links to a couple of DTM pictures from Zolder 5th April 1992 to the best of my abbilities:

#33(?) Gerd Ruch:
http://www.fotocommunity.de/pc/pc/ex...splay/15810770

#51 Jürgen Feucht:
http://www.fotocommunity.de/pc/pc/ex...EyMCI7fQ/pos/1

Fred Räker raced the second Ruch Motorsport entry #34 on that same event. For some reason this would be the only time Gerd Ruch actually started a DTM race in Mustang at Zolder. He was there in both '89 and '90, but both times DNS'ed.

Thanks KA for those extra shots.

Notice that the Räker car seems red underneath the body work - The first Ruch entry in late '88 was a red car!

Regarding the last picture, it must be 1993 rather than 1991, since the body work is well beyond a standard Mustang, and that my previous statement regarding the Gerd Ruch/Jürgen Feucht 1992 pictures are correct.

OT I remember Singen from the Eurosport 1 hour highlights on Sunday evenings as one long demolition derby. 1991 was the first visit and survived to 1995 and believe that the '96 ITC only was the reason this race was dropped. Don't know anything about Singen, but the temporary track was settled in an industrial area, so at least the carnage didn't disturb any citizens.
