Hmm, I'll beleive it when I see it. California is a very hot and dry place and I would imagine that flooding is highly unlikely.

Nothing on the A1GP website, no press releases on the Laguna Seca website. There is "track maintenance" going on for a while at the track, but none of them are saying it's not going to happen.
I've not seen the Daily Express story, but if it appears to be the only source then I wouldn't be too sure about it. Again, I've not seen it - but I doubt they're billing it as an "Exclusive" and giving it a lot of coverage, it's probably a tiny paragraph. So, we can't say they're the only source because they're the only one to have found this amazing scoop...
We'll see at any rate!

Well, they have a week to sort things - it would have to be some serious damage to cancel the race?!?!

Laguna is great... for bikes. I generally don't find the top level open wheeler stuff that interesting when they race there.

It's a real shame another round has been cancelled as the last few races of A1 have been thrilling and well worth watching. I was really looking forward to some of the drivers sliding down the corkscrew.

A joy to watch one of them tackle the elevation changes though. Or Zanardi race there. Poor Herta.

let me put it like this: If A1gp indeed does NOT have financial problems imo they are handling these situations totally wrong. They make it look like they are having financial problems. The cars being impounded, suppliers not being paid, races postpounded, etc. etc.

It could very well be that they don't have any financial problems, but in that case i advise them to hire a good pr-manager that kills any rumours cause this is really hurting them.

Laguna Seca track in good shape

I just returned from walking the track at Laguna Seca and found it in good shape. Through the steepest portions of the Corkscrew, there are some small washouts in the runoff area, normal for the rainy season here. It'll take the ground crew only a day to groom the runoff areas to their usual perfect condition prior to the race event.

They are still selling tickets! Maybe the truth is they have not sold any? Scheduling it the same day as first F1 round not too clever either,even with 12 hr time difference? At least looks like I will get a early night next Sunday.
I too have neve heard of rain so bad it will not have cleared up in a week.

Don't know whether those outside the UK will know what the Beano was,but I have found the 'Express the most reliable of UK national papers. Why they seem to be the only ones with this story I don't know.
For the record, the complete story is as follows;

"The next A1GP race ,in Laguna Seca next week,is set to be cancelled because of safety problems with the Californian circuit after heavy rains."

Indeed, i have enjoyed A1 GP, but it can't be good for the future of the series to have missed Three rounds in Brazil, USA and China.
