Top Ten Drivers of 2006
Anyone care to draw up a list of who they think has been the top 10 performers this year?
1. Sam Hornish - champion, indy 500 winner 2. Dan Wheldon - strong challenge in a new team 3. Scott Dixon - had a couple of good wins, fairly consistent year 4. Helio Castro-Neves - same as Dixon 5. Marco Andretti - made a strong impact as a rookie 6. Vitor Meira - some good, consistent results with struggling panther team 7. Danica Patrick - improved from 2005, & convincingly beat her team mate 8. Ryan Briscoe - was impressive in the races he contested 9. Tomas Scheckter - did a good job in bringing Vision forward as a team 10. Tony Kanaan - race win at Milwaukee the highlight of an otherwise fairly average year |

I would drop danica a few spots (to tenth), drop briscoe off the list, swap vitor and marco, and tack on ed carpenter in 9th as "most improved"

I'd say that the top 10 in the championship (in that order) ...everyone was basically panned out that way in terms of how their year was like.

Vitor Meira was my man of the year.
I'd probably put Wheldon and Hornish equal second. After that, anything goes. |

i wouldnt put danica in that list, i didnt really see anything of her all year. vitor meira should be way up there, he did awesome in a team who are low on budget.

Probably the performer of the year was Meira, in what is effectively, an underfunded team, compared to Penske, AGR & TCGR |

yep Carpenter did improve alot
But for it was Vitor Meira all the way , he was great and just needs that little leg up into a stronger team and he will fly |

I'd probaly put Vitor top, followed by Sam, Dan and Marco. The top few drivers in the series were really impressive - let's hope we can get a full grid for 2007.
