Festival of Sporting Cars announces FoSC on the Mountain Easter 2008
Great news....
Festival of Sporting Cars announces FoSC on the Mountain Easter 2008 Australia’s home of motor sport, Mount Panorama, will once again come alive with the roar of engines at Easter – this time for a new event – with confirmation that the Festival of Sporting Cars (FoSC) will be held at the Mount over the 2008 Easter long weekend. The organisers of the highly successful Shannon’s Festival of Sporting Cars series have announced that with support from Mercedes Benz, they will hold the first in a series of annual multi-club meetings at Mount Panorama, a circuit known as the Mecca of Australian motor racing. Ok, whilst we like to support events that encourage historic motor racing (can I take it as read that this is actually what this is as it is not actually stated?), we have rules governing promotion, advertising and press releases. I urge viewings of the following FAQs:-
http://tentenths.com/forum/faq.php?f..._faq_rules_ads http://tentenths.com/forum/faq.php?f...aq_rules_press As a result I have severely edited the above; the alternative would have been to pull the lot, which none of us would have wanted. |

I wish it every success. It might help to detail the sort of cars and races that you are expecting to get there, which is as a good a way as any to encourage interest. |

But there is nothing on the website about Bathurst, dont forget they need to get maximum cars on the grid to cover the costs of an event at Bathurst. When will they release any info to the public?

I had an idea, surely Group N will be involved in this and as they will need maximum grids surely an over 3 litre and under 3 litre field would be an idea. Down here in Vic we run over and under for the 2 big Historic meets (Sandown and PI) and there is always good fields. With quite a few Mazda RX2's and a few BMW 2002's coming on the unders field is very good, as always Toranas and Mustangs are popular to in the overs...any thoughts?

Depends on entry numbers I imagine. Isn't there an historic meeting at Malalla over Easter normally? As a side note the recent Winton Grp N races were divided into Nb & Nc, which made for a change.

At this stage, i believe the intention is to split the fields into Na/Nb & Nc.
There is a historic meeting at Mallala and competitor groups are concerned how this event will impact on that. |

Haha if your implying I race in that class your a little way off, I just honestly know a couple of people and the racing the grid puts on is always top class and when its Na,Nb,Nc combined etc. many of those guys don't get the proper publicity because the boys in the XU1's, Stangs, Camaro's etc. are always at the front at a place like Bathurst whereas a bloke in a RX2, 2002 or whatever just gets blown away. One of them ran at the 1000 supports before it became the new Biante rules and he got left for dead up the mountain and down the mountain but he got held up across the top by the slower of the faster cars and this will be the same...But I don't want to take anything away from the GTHO, Stang, XU1, Camaro etc. drivers cause they deserve to be at the front but I just think the smaller capacity drivers should get a good shot to race at the front with others in their class, anyone who was at PI earlier this year and saw the U3L battle between the Alfa GTV, 2002 BMW and the RX2's at the front and then right through the field will know what I mean, as good as over 3L.

Mate....I think I know what you mean...the combined grids are good to see...and at certain tracks the smaller cars are very very competitive...yes I was at PI when the AR, BMW, Rx put on the great dice...I have also seen some giant killing drives in NSW from the Humble and Rogerson RX2s. However, don't forget that we now have two lots of NCs...if they all turn up at Easter Bathurst and they are all eligible to run...that will be a bonus |

Still nothing on the website though, which is strange - they could at least have the press release there

The word going around at the last state round at Sandown was they have had about 300 enquiries already for Bathurst from all over Australia, but many can't afford or don't want to do other events just to quailify for a grid spot

Oh dear....Aussie F1GP now moved to March...a week after the FoSc event...that could effect numbers, but I hope not
