Viv, although some of the garage equipment and such are shipped, the cars and spares are airfreighted. The usual timetable is for the containers to be delivered to Heathrow (I think) on Friday afternoon in time for the fleet of 747s to fly out on Saturday morning.

I feel the McLAren excuses stem from the lack of pre-season tessting miles completed and the focus of that testing being changed to chasing reliability rather than testing updates. This meant that updates planned for use in Australia on were ultimately untested and therefore not cleared for use. Updates they have introduced have since been the subjected to limited testing in Friday P1 to make up for mileage missed pre season.
Now they have the opportunity to play catchup under the guise of it being hyped as 'the real 2018 car'. As has been said this 'new car' needs to be quick out of the box to save a bit of face. |

It's interesting. On one hand they have scored 28 points so far, compared to 30 for the whole of last year! On the other we just know they aren't doing as well as they could be and it feels like they are the slowest of the three Renault teams (despite more points that Renault).

The team must revert to black and white, original NZ colours used by the team at their very begginings.
Remember that, with West sponsorship the cars had already these colours... |

Autosport is reporting that Tim Goss is stepping aside as head of chassis at McLaren. Yet more rudderlessness? Can Zak Brown’s new position as CEO pull things together? How long before Eric Boullier’s position comes under scrutiny? Sad to see.

Obviously something not right there. Any idea who’s gonna replace him?

It does look quite good looking, if it wasn’t for that flap under the nose

It looks like the nose has a cape underneath.
Oh well, if it goes fast. |

Yes, what do we call it? The cape? Reverse tea tray?

Did it? Still 1s per lap behind the top Regie team, and still last of their three teams.

Yes, not close enough to Renault and still only just making the top ten

Seemed to be a slight improvement in qualifying and slightly worse in the race. Odd. Still a long way to go and I’m sure we’d all be very surprised if they suddenly find a second in the car.

They were a bit lucky in quali, then the race showed their true colours. I think this is gonna be another season of disappointment

yeah agree that this year doesnt yet seem like it will be much better than last year.
flattered by FI and Williams surprising downturn and Haas failing to secure its maximum. |
