On dutch TV you could hear Greg Wheerler(Jos'engineer) ask Jos: "keep pushing", Jos replied: "I'm driving my ass off, but I have a lot of understeer".
The Arrows team are now(they started already after testing) redesigning the front suspension geometry. The new front suspension should be ready for use at the Brazillian GP. |

Gustav Brunner already noticed in an interview that Arrows were clearly in doubt about their pushrod front suspension geometry and didn't have a clue how high their nose should be. Now onder they're changing something.
The teams equipment is flown directly from Melbourne to Malaysia, so after that and before Brazil is the first time the cars will be at their factories again. Real pity Arrows abonded the pullrods so quickly. They should have improved it. With a little bit of beefing up the inherent flex can be overcome. Anyone noticed how wonderfully clean Brunner configured the pullrod suspension? He didn't built a carbon bulge around it, but just drilled two ball joints through the tub. It looks like they can change it at will to pushrod suspension. Really very neat. |

They abbandoned the pull rods(like Mclaren did years ago) because the car was difficult to handle when driving over the curbs, you could see the problem best at Spa last year(Bus Stop) and at every other circuit with slow chicanes with high curbs. The rods where shaking around like rubber band and the drivers urged the team to go back to push rods, also the car was more difficult to setup.
But like I said: Mclaren had already tried it in the past(can't remember what year though), and probably Minardi will see that it won't work this season. |
