What are the FIA protecting with F1? Nothing. If anything, they're diminishing F1.

F2-3 are just stepping stone classes, and there's nothing to protect other than an F1 clique.

Defined routes to F1 is a brittle idea since drivers ultimately have to take responsibility of their own careers.

What are the FIA protecting F2/3 from exactly, a stepping stone where the likely F2 champ this season(and defending F3 champ) won't have an F1 drive next year?
The FIA are acting in accordance with their statutes, that include the following:

'Promoting the development of motor sport, improving safety in motor sport, enacting, interpreting and enforcing common rules applicable to the organisation and the fair and equitable running of motor sport competitions'

By over-recognition of motor sport that is sanctioned outside of their organisation, they diminish their ability to enforce common rules.

I understand (and agree) that Indycar drivers have the talent to earn more points - but when your organisation (FIA) structure places the sanctioning body as a regional club, you can't deviate too much.

As it is (from an FIA perspective) they are already effectively awarding to Super License points to a regional club series.
