V8 Supercar 2003 Championship Points Calc
Einstein my butt. Basic maths maybe...
Here is a link to an Excel spreadsheet everyone can use to work out the various combinations of points scores to prophecise the 2003 V8 Supercar Champion from the 3 leading contenders, Ambrose, Murphy, Skaife. While the winner is likely to be from the first two, it's interesting to note what Skaife needs if both front-runners have bad days. Simply open the sheet in Excel, plug in the drivers positions for Race 1 and Race 2, and their round total, champ total and adjusted champ total will be shown. Valid values are 1-33, and DNF. Anything will make it barf. Put in position 34+ and expect negative scores, it's not something I bothered handling because if either driver finishes in that area in a race their championship is screwed anyway. Note that for each driver, any round score less than their current worst round yields them an adjusted champ total equal to their current unadjusted total. Have fun. Excel Points Calc PS. This assumes equal points for Race 1 and Race 2. In previous rounds, the length of a race has not affected the points split (ie, last round in NZ) so I'm assuming this is correct. |
