Wow! What amazing ideas FOTA have!
How pleased I was to read in Autosport this week about all the fantastic things "our Flav" has been coming up with to help improve the show.
Not only do we get a radically different points system (12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1 isn't that incredibly imaginative), we also get pretty new graphics on our TV screens! And now, just like the famous qualifying that has grown to matter so much, they are going introduce an incredibly excitinh format on the one day we can't watch anything, on the Friday! Wowee! They'll scrap for points, with no racing or overtaking element involved at all! Will we be able to cope with the adrenaline? They'll also be improved pre-season hype, with races and shoot-outs there! No focus on returning overtaking, retaining traditional circuits, restoring techincal diversity or making the show more accesible. Pretty much just what we asked for! |

Flav is a useless clown who lives in his own little dreamland.

Any chance of an actual list of the proposed changes?

I don't know, I've posted everything I read in Autosport.
FOTA does have an official website: http://www.teamsassociation.org/ |

I knew about that site before (then again many posters might not have), but it's not there.

I think it's quite amusing that they've used that website address, because if you go to www.fota.co.uk you'll find something completely different. That's because the original FOTA was formed by the Formula Three Association in 1987, so the F1 lot are quite cheeky to have appropriated the moniker. They should really call themselves the F1TA. |

It's the same reason it wasn't F1CA. F1CA looks extremely like fica, which is Italian for c**t. Bearing in mind the significant Italian element in the sport that was clearly not a good name do have, so therefore it had to be FOCA. In the case of F1TA, that looks somewhat like fitta, which means the same thing in various languages including Swedish and Norwegian. Other possible names could have been GPTA, but that would be a bit similar to the GPDA.
Mods, I apologize for using my own swear filter but in my opinion it's necessary to make it clear which obscenity I'm talking about. |

Some more useful than others!
Personally, I reckon they should have chosen BERK. They are a load of them, after all. P.S. Berk is from the Cockney Rhyming Slang, and is short for Berkeley Hunt. So it all comes back to the same thing in the end.... |

If the French had their way it would be something like, L’association de constructeurs de Formule Une or ACFU. I don't think there's much there to offend anyone, except getting the French pronunciation a bit wrong?

FOCA wouldn't actually work because the C would be for Constructors and not all of them are. Indeed they are at pains to say that Teams are just as important as Constructors. In the light of recent months, you'd have to say they got that one right. |

The problem with FOCA is that there was a FOCA (there may well still be one)
