Cheap ferry deal
Just seen what looks like the cheapest ferry deal for 2010
Norfolk line Dover to Dunkirk £26 return using code "EBF" That is the cheapest I have ever seen it unless you use Tesco vouchers. Last edited by GT6; 22 Dec 2009 at 09:09. |

Yes - but do you want to use NFL???
I'd prefer to pay more for a more reliable crossing - that said I have had a nightmare with two pre-booked crossings with Eurotunnel last week (before the snow!!). |

Just had an e mail from Sea France, if anyone is thinking of booking with them you can get an additional £2 each way reduction using the code "09XMASPPAX"
If anyone else finds any cheap deals post them here, some of us have already booked but many others will be grateful of any discounts that you know. |

This link was posted on another forum but might be of interest to some people, particularly if you have not booked your ferry yet. It basicially indicates that Sea france are facing problems.

yes I get into Lloyd's List , that's where it says Page Not Found.
The link seems to be truncated. And putting SeaFrance into their search box comes up with nothing either |

This is the main part of the article, sorry can't put all of it but that is all I can read as not registered. Most ferry operators are having a bad time but Sea France are not in a good position.
SEAFRANCE has applied for judicial protection from the court of commerce in Paris, following the recent five-day strike that is estimated to have cost the struggling cross-Channel operator €2m ($2.7m). Chairman Pierre Fa told French media that the company “is on the eve of death”, and added that it is currently in debt to the tune... |

thanks; that's the same status I believe that Eurotunnel traded under for a long time when they too almost went under. AIUI it's not the same as the US Chapter 11 protection but has the same result. Hope to goodness they keep going for a couple of months as we have two bookings with them to get us all to the EifelRennen.

The French are usually coerced into some form of state intervention to stop the complete collapse of companies like this so you should be OK, we had problems with speedferries as they slide towards bankrupcy and no such bale out for them.

Thinking of getting an amphicar and cutting out the ferries completely, well perhaps might stick to the tunnel we are all a little heavier than the last time I went in one 30 plus years ago and the amount of camping equipement would sink it for certain.

News on the ferry front is the demise of LD Lines Dover to bolougne services, could putv extra pressure on the other cross channel services many of which have already been cut back.
Will be booking mine for 2011 soon with the tunnel and Tesco vouchers, that way either get the crossing i want or lose £20 if they go aswell |

Have long since booked my tunnel crossing but seen a few offers recently for those still thinking about it,
using out Wednesday morning back Sunday night Tunnel £90 P & O £55 Sea France £50 Norfolk line does have a few offers but they are coming out well above the other two and not worth considering unless cheaper than Dover Calais If anyone knows of any other deals please post here |

not really a deal, but in terms of flexibility and not being totally sure when you're going to arrive at the port then both p&o and norfolkline allow you to catch a crossing either side of your booked one (subject to availability etc) free of amendment charges.
it's slightly more beneficial for norfolkline customers since their crossings are once every 2 hours which gives you a bigger window for fail. plus it means you can book on for example the 0200 crossing and actually get on the 2359 which is often more expensive for the same price |

As most of the operators now seem to be pricing their crossings as 2x singles we're doing a combined P&O outbound (£36) and Tunnel return. (£60)

Just go for the tunnel, should be about £80 return, saves time on the friday and the sooner you get to Le Mans the sooner the fun starts
