Surprised me that the Corvette has more waivers than the BMW. Of course a "waiver" could mean anything. Its possible that the Corvette may have a bunch petty waivers while the BMW may have a lesser amount of waivers but more significant waiving being done by each of those waivers. The ferrari is easily the best car with its MR configuration so i guess something is wrong in the performance balancing for them to have only won 1 race last season vs front engine cars and the porsche.

Well, Risi threw away a lot of races last year (and even in years before that) through stupid driving. Melo being gone might help, but Vilander had some facepalm moments as well. Not having Bruni there really hurt I think. I'm not sure what Matos' expected role is, but he does not have a reputation for having clean races all the time either. Fuel miscalculations seem to be a problem for the team as well.

It didn't really look like the BoP was wrong on the 458, but rather wrong on the M3s and that Risi through a bunch of races away/had bad luck. When they were running they were on pace with the rest of the field, if I remember right.
As for the fueling thing... I don't know about the technical side of that, and I understand why teams may be a bit miffed that IMSA adjusts for it, but frankly I don't care if IMSA just balances that out with flow restrictors. I watch racing to see cars racing on a track. I've come to also enjoy the pitting and strategy side of it as well, but if teams are gaining time in the pits, I want it to be because of practice and teamwork, not because of pit equipment. |

in ALMS the 458 cars have been hugely penalized on engine! the car couldn't reach not even 7000rpm because of the bop and had really poor torque than bmw/corvette! this however doesn't justify the disastrous champ done by risi's drivers.
Nobody believed that they could do worse than 2010 in road atlanta... and well in 2011... they crashed during the allignament lap... I'm pretty sure that if AF corse would run in ALMS, they surely could do better than risi. |

AF Corse did have a great year in the US in 2011. A pole and a competitive finish in the 430 and a pole and a win in the 458. Risi also had a terrible year for them, they are capable of better and we know it.

It's one of the more non-committal confirmations I've seen. Looks like the only way they can go is with a closed top Lola.
The smart decision would be to do some ALMS rounds at the end of the season. In my opinion this entry probably shouldn't get picked to go to Le Mans over a team like TDS/RML. Would be better they come back in 2013 with a Mazda engine + experience and do the whole season. |

I agree that the whole "confirmation" is very vague. At some point this year and Le Mans depends upon receiving an invitation. |

Indeed, at some point in time this year, somewhere, maybe ALMS, maybe WEC, hopefully LM, and a Judd, Lola Coupe seem likely. It really is kind of non-news, until it becomes news.

A Dyson link up would be a help for Dempsey but yes, with Dyson only doing LMP1 it does not make sense for McDreamy, despite the Mazda sponsorship. Oh well, If you want to do a good job then do it yourself!
