Thats excellent news for Kayne He mentioned this at the test day as well so am glad to see the finished livery. On another note/poke...i fell about laughing yesterday when right at the end of Gillete Motorsport and R3 of the BNT's, Shaun Summerfield, with all of the BNT cars behind him said something along the lines of "And next week we welcome a new generation of racing blah de blah..." and then it flicks straight through to new ad/media bundle for the SuperTourers showing some wonderful shots of the cars in action at HD. And here was me thinking that TV3 would have to tread carefully when showing BNT stuff i even saw a number of the standard ST ads pop up from time to time during yesterday arvo. |

That was an unusually brief reply from NZSTFan, I think what he meant to say was:
"I am again so excited about the wonderful class that is the V8 Supertourers that I want to stand some place very high and shout to the entire world my happiness and joyful delight that we have the best touring car class that the world has ever seen right here, and that anyone who doesn't feel the same way as me is yet to be changed to my positively upbeat way of thinking about the best thing to ever have happened to motorsport anywhere in the world". I think it goes some way to clarify any potential conflict of interest calls (The Engine-gate saga that appears to be flaring in the other thread is a good example). |

Any your kinda right anyhow, i do think this is a great thing, and yes i'm excited about it......am i not allowed to be excited by something i like?? or do we all have to be depressed about things and mope around being negative all the time. Get a life E36ST, and just remember, this thread is for the SuperTourers....thats kinda the reason i've been posting on here. I've even checked the title of the thread, and yup, sure enough its a ST thread alright! Capiche? |

Foggy driving prototype this weekend.
I'm picking Chambers or Inkster to surprise at V8 Challange cup. Then again I'm crewing for chambers so of course I'd be biased |

A shame that it is coming to this:
PRESS RELEASE For immediate release V8 Directors issue proceedings against former Directors The current Directors of NZ Vee Eight Entrants Group Association Limited (VEEGA) have today confirmed that legal proceedings have been issued against the former Directors of the company who are now Directors and shareholders of the rival V8 Supertourers Limited company. VEEGA is the holding company of NZ V8’s Limited the company that has successfully run the NZ V8 racing Championship, the premier category of MotorSport NZ Inc’s Championship series, for more than 10 years. The category has developed a huge following in New Zealand in that time and attracted significant television and sponsorship support. The proceedings relate to the actions of the former Directors in their dealings with the development of the category’s Car of the Future, the development plan to modernise the fleet of competing cars in the Championship. The development work for this car was undertaken by a working group comprising some of the former Directors who are now the Directors and also shareholders in the Supertourer category (a rival series) due to commence shortly. Chairman of the Board of VEEGA, prominent businessman and sporting identity Ian (Inky) Tulloch said, “The current Directors had no option but to take these proceedings against the former Directors. In the Board’s view, the actions of the former directors have damaged the category, their former competitors and shareholders and potentially motor sport in New Zealand.” “In all my years in business seldom have I seen such conduct in a commercial deal and certainly never in a sporting arena where so many invest so much just for their passion for the sport”, he said. The action, which will be set down for hearing in the High Court in Auckland alleges that the former Directors breached their responsibilities to VEEGA and its shareholders in the way that they dealt with the confidential design and development work for the new car, including using shareholders’ funds to design the prototype. The action seeks, by way of relief, orders for damages and an order that the newly created Supertourer company, account for profits received arising as a result of the former directors’ breaches. Ends |

If they wanted to put a nail into the "premier" category of motor sport and chase sponsors away then they couldn't have picked a better thing to do - not so smart people with egos ...........

Its one thing to lodge something with the courts, and its another thing to go in there and actually win. I hope that the ST guys have good lawyers, which i am sure they do, as a good lawyer can, and is, often the difference between winning and losing.
I would have thought (being presumptive here) that the ST Directors would have known that this potentially could be the case, and would have worked in such a manner as to not expose them for future court action. If the issue is around IP and assocaited profits from that IP, then it would have been important for them to work in such a way that they could develop their series without ruffling the feathers of another party. Thats just good business at the end of the day. Is this related to the proposed court action that was banded about a number of months ago? and then was thrown out? Either way you look at it though someone will loose out....and i dont think it will be the party with the most $$ On another note, that drivers list is impressive, and i'm glad to see Shane Van Gisbergens name in there Also, for the racing this weekend, can anyone confirm if it will be rolling starts or grid starts? ( I heard it was going to be rolling) |

I don't think there was as strong a case for a breakaway in that instance as there has been in the NZV8's with the frustration at TMC and their incompetence/neoptism, but I still ended up firmly in the Super League camp in the end. Although I notice that VEEGA aren't trying to stop the V8ST's from going ahead, just trying to get a cut of their profits! If common sense prevails (and that would be unusual in these circumstances) then the remaining few VEEGA directors would agree to jump over to the ST series in exchange for being given franchises for say, two years for free, rather than the $25k normally charged. It would probably cost less than the fees the lawyers are going to make from the debacle, and would also make TMC superfluous (even more than they are already). |
