*tongue in cheek* well you could argue... it still would've been one show.. if someone didn't didn't take a certain car.. and go off and start their own series *tongue in cheek*
would the remaining NZV8 teams want to go from being the main act.. to the side show? |

To generalize it, the attitude seems to be, have the minimum level of infrastructure and promotion you can get away with and whoever turns up, turns up. |

Well PM, that's all water well and truly under the bridge now isn't it.
To answer your question though, probably not. But they aren't really considered the main act now, are they? I think very important issues in NZV8 built up over some years, and none were resolved in a timely fashion. This caused a lot of dissatisfaction and concern about the future for many. Ultimately that prevented an agreement on the way forward, hence the breakaway. I don't know what the issues were, but I suspect some parties wanted a longer timeframe to complete the transition from old to new, and that was not acceptable to others. I would also pick that the 'behind the scenes' activities of some at TMC were not seen as ever being in the best interests of the sport at large, so for some, enough was enough. There are lot of guys in NZV8 who like to tinker and tweak their cars all weekend and for them, a spec class reduces that enjoyment. Engine builders who make money from that class, don't want spec engines. In reality it probably couldn't happen, but I suggest that a benevolent dictator with no commercial interests could have fixed this properly, and quite quickly. |

I agree with moutainstar and on_to_it and have said the same thing as well. Why not have the BNT's become part of the Challenge Cup, and still continue to build the MRX car for next year in the SuperTourer Development series (that kind of thing anyway). That way we could still have a NZ built car that looks the goods and will not be too far off and ST performance wise. Makes sense to me anyway.
So can i take it from this that VEEGA etc are not going to pursue court action anymore, or is that set in concrete? if so, does anyone know when the case is set for? |

in their series they are
CC looks like it will be a step down from NZV8. last time i looked at the ST facebook page.. it looked more like a ST/D1NZ page.. with very little info about the ST feeder class. any idea if the CC races will ever be shown on the home of motorsport? |

I believe you will see larger fields in the next rounds, but who can say for sure.
The V8ST website says; • The V8Challenge Cup will also enjoy extensive television coverage on TV3’s Gillette Motorsport show with all five rounds screened in a delayed highlights programme. I had confirmation that it was to be on yesterday but I recorded the show and didn't see it. Something went amiss! |

Yeah, the TV schedules are a bit full aren't they.
Who knows. I saw somewhere Kevin Williams wants to have a crack, so maybe. |

I still think that for it to be a NZ Championship it should run at least one round at each track, Hampton Downs has been left out so far due to the fact the other 6 tracks had a so called investment with TMC/MSNZ, but If they combined, run ST, CC/BNT's, and the support classes at 7 tracks I think it would be great. |

Really I think the fans want to see The Super Tourers at the same meetings as all the other Tier 1 support classes. But the support classes must have decent grids otherwise people get bored really quick.
I'd say have: Super Tourers CC/NZV8's (no MRX car) GT Cars Formula Fords Suzukis Utes (if you feel you really must) TRS (would be fantastic but would probably only match up with 1 or 2 rounds of their series) Motorcycles would be good too Just my 2c Mike |

The current championship series doesn't want to go to Hampton downs as they don't have control over the venue apartments so ego overruled what competitors wanted.
Mountainstar I like your comments and agree that too many people incl current nzv8 competitors sat on their butt for too long and paid the price. |

The apartment/spectator issue is probably the smaller part of the reasons. I think the big reason is the other 6 tracks invested in TMC years ago, and HD has not. |

SM, they wanted the series, the series didnt want them, then toyota stated they wanted to go there no matter what so they had to go but still no V8's and in the end that was another nail in the coffin for msc. At the end of it I guess HD did the next best thing and moved on to better things. I heard that BMW meetings were fantastic.

$15 for a weekend pass....well that speaks volumes doesn't it
Reminds me of when i went to puke for R1 last year. As long as you got there after lunch on the saturday you got in for free!....why? because no one was there. I'm sorry but the NZV8s are really clutching at straws here |

Such a pity that someone so knowledgeable as yourself couldn't get on the who's who list. But I forget - you were asleep at home with both eyes closed, not the usual one. |
