Ugly.
Which makes it no different from any other Chevrolet, of course. |

That looks like a baby's face. The grille is similar to the Commodore VE's, I admit.

I think the biggest problem is that the headlight and grille decals, more than the Fusion and Camry, look so, so fake. The Fusion and Camry are almost believable...maybe there's an element of depth to them or something like that. The SS looks goofy with its stickers. It's just not well done.

Wait, carbon fiber? But that's expensive stuff that no small team can hold a budget on implementing their cars!

Some paint schemes for next year are up, of course on the 2013 cars. This is for most, the first peak of how they will look with the actual paint on. http://www.jayski.com/news/schemes/s...-Paint-Schemes

The #16 3M car looks cool. And I love the Ford Fusion front end.

Day 2. Pictures from the morning session. First time that I noticed that the "side rakes" starting on the roof of left rear quarter panels are now clear. They look much better. Hopefully, getting rid of the rear sway bars will keep the cars from looking like they are "crabbing" down the straights.

From comments and the speeds, these new cars apparently handle much better and are faster than the ones we've had the last gen cars. I can't wait to see these in race action.

Having seen some more Camry pictures, it amazes me how nice the car looks in all-black, and how awful it is in any other color. In black, the front looks mean, and the lines really stand out. In color, the front looks a bit awkward, and the lines are completely hidden. Kind of a shame, and I don't think M&M's will be giving Kyle a black car next year...
Fusion looks great to me because the grille isn't a decal on the racecar (on showcars, it may still be). As I said before, I find the SS grille decal to look extremely fake, which I really don't like. The Chevrolet cars running in testing without grille and headlight decals looked really nice, though. Anyway, for all my complaining, these cars are really cool, and Earnhardt's said some promising things about how they drive. |

Saw the cars on Speed last night for the 1st time - the Penske Fords in paint job really looked good. Glad Ambrose is still in a fusion
Bring on Daytona - not to quickly tho, enjoy the festive season |

Daytona testing will be on SPEED in the U.S. January 10-12.
Hopefully one of you guys will watch and be able to report on what the new cars look like in a pack or in tandem or whatever we're doing this year. Conflicts with the 24 Hours of Dubai, and I'll take racing over testing myself, but I'm still very interested in hearing about the cars. |

Looking at these images, did anyone notice that now at the top of the windshield, the drivers' last names are printed on? I think it looks quite nifty. Other racing series have letters or banners on them already, and to me, this brings out more from the cars.

Yeah, that was announced a long time ago.
Rear quarter sponsors are now allowed to go past the B-Pillar, the numbers are 10% smaller, no number or team decals are allowed on the "lights" and a sponsor is permitted on the roof behind the number as well. |

Steve Byrnes doing play-by-play substantially damages my interest in seeing the testing.

One thing that did become evident during the Daytona test was that tandem drafting was much more fraught with risk with the Gen-6 cars. The CoT essentially had flat front and rear bumpers, so that if cars lined up square, the push was essentially longitudinal. The new car, though, has a much more rounded front bumper, which makes it far easier to push the rear of the car ahead out-of-line; hence Jr. inadvertently wrecking Ambrose in session 4. It will be interesting to see just how much effect this will have upon drafting patterns, particularly at the two plate tracks.
