Everyone once in a while I am reminded that Super GT is just so spectacular! Beautiful looking cars and great close racing. I was rewatching the early laps at Fuji and wow when the leaders caught up to the back of GT300 it was phenomenal stuff.

A bit confusing, according to 2013 regs, DTM min. weight given by car + driver inside must never be under 1110kg. Super GT current min. weight is 1100kg driver excluded. The min. weight of 1000kg for 2014 GT500 cars is given with or without driver(s) weight inside?

Seriously, the GT-A doesn't know about diversity... Next year or two, GT300 will be fielded by GT-Rs, might become a Nissan GT-R Cup! |

Only Japanese GT3 car at the moment. It's just like ADAC GT being full of Audis, BMWs and Porsches.

The NSX is front engine or rear engine?

By rear you meant mid engined . Its mid engined just like the original.
The Lexus and the GTR look better than the Honda in my opinion. The Honda looks awkward. Maybe its just the paint scheme. The diveplanes on the NSX look tacky... but not as much on the other cars. But then again perhaps its the white paint scheme that makes the NSX odd looking. I wish the would switch the GT500 full width rear wing. What is so fundamentally different between SGT and DTM that makes passing look easier in SGT than it is in DTM. Is it the cars or is it the race tracks? Im starting to think its the race tracks. The Asian tracks are great for passing. Sugo, Fuji to name a few. Not to mention Sugo is a really awesome track. |

A salute to all forum.
I have to said that the new cars are less bad that i thought, especially Lexus. In any case i hope in an other rear wing configuration. This tipe is so ugly, and too "DTM style". Also exhaust configuration don't like to me (same reasons of the wings) |

Before 2012, DTM cars used a lot of winglets to the front and rear of the car, drivers had to be very carefull during a pass because even a little contact could rip off these winglets slowing the car hopeless, wasting the race. And like in f1 before 2009, because of the extreme downforce a car could not stay too much time behind another one to try the pass because with the lack of air flow the car was unstable. Almost all races were decided by pitstops. Actual DTM cars are less fragile and you can see more overtakings. Another difference between DTM and SGT is race condition. SGT cars use the main layout of tracks for a semi-endurance race of 300km/>90minutes, beyond real endurance races like 1000km of suzuka or the 500km fuji race. DTM usally use more twisty short layout with less good spots for passing for a sprint race of less than 70 minutes. DTM race is made of 22 cars with the same performances, GT500 drivers after 10-15 minutes from the start need to pass incessantly slower GT300 cars until the end of the race. Similiar cars but very different race context. Anyway i don't like the look of new cars, gtr looks like a fat extremized gtr gt3 with dtm rear wing, lexus look disappoints me. No doubt that the dtm bodyshape suits better for german cars.

Two question for japanese samurai (or whoever can answer me).
1: 2014 GT500 DTM will keep on having 520-525hp like current GT500 car since 2012 or will come back to 490-500hp? 2: Has somebody revealed how much difference there will be compared to actual performances? |

Very nice to see the new cars! I'm unclear about the engine situation. Are they still using 3.4 V8s like this year, equivalent to Super Formula/Formula Nippon? Will they use 4 liter V8s like the Germans? Wasn't there a plan to run 2 liter turbos? Thanks

2014 GT500 will use 2 liters L4 turbo, engine shared by FN too. Lexus was the first in 2009 to use a 3.4 V8, kind of engine that became mandatory in 2010.

I wonder how will that hit on japanese fans. On side it seems interesting to get new car looks but on other side the cool looking gt500 look is lost. I just hope that it will offer good racing and that with taking DTM regulations will have an inpackt to the more mixed field with german cars racing in japan and japan cars in german series.
I like DTM car style but it just doesnt fit into that series. Im really going to miss those cars. Its like loosing the Fia GT1 97/98 cars again |

The GTR looks great. Its only a little less wide and extreme as the current car. The rear wing is ugly. Theres no getting around that. Imo these look better than the German cars, especially the Lexus. The NSX is all white so its hard to make out the details, same with the GTR but I like the all carbon fiber.
The performance should be about the same maybe faster? Lighter weight by 100kg, turbo engines and keeping their super grip manufacturer tires! DTM is about a second slower than lmp2 at RedBull Ring, GT500 should be faster with the non-spec tire. |

In any case, Super GT 2013 are finest of DTM-Super GT 2014.
I belive that GTA have made a big mistake in accepting an adjustments to the DTM, and frankly I struggle to catch a glimpse of the gain. One of the many questions that I have arisen looking at new cars, is the inherent delicacy that seem to have, as opposed to the current Super GT, which seem more suited to a close combat. All this seems to me a huge favor to the Germans, and a huge remission for the Japanese |
