As I understand Doc Helmut Marko... AFC racing program shouldn't collide with F1 calendar as we will be RBR reserve driver.
Let's see WEC Calendar: 6h Silverstone - April 20th = Chinese GP 6h Spa - May 10th = Spanish GP (actually 11th as 6h Spa are run on Saturday) Le Mans official test - June 1st = New Jersey GP Le Mans 24h - June 14th/15th - No problems there 6h Sao Paulo - August 31st - No problems there 6h of COTA - September 21st = Singapure GP 6h of Fuji - October 12th = Japanese GP ??? (another FIA nonsense, I suppose...) 6h of Bahrain - November 15th = Mexican GP (actually 16th as 6h Bahrain are run on Saturday) Five of seven races of WEC, added to Official Test, collide with F1 GP calender, not the best option on Dr. Marko criteria... In other hand, not dropping AFC means they aren't sure, at all, of Kvyat level of performance, they want to keep their options wide open... Another angle is that "performance under pressure" or lack of it was said to be the main reason to not give Da Costa the Toro Rosso seat... What could be more nerve racking than a third season on a championship he was the class of the field in his first incomplete season? Sorry for going a bit off topic |

i propose here the comment i also put in mulsannescorner FB page.
If you look to the picture taken from the rear, you see a very low bodywork profile and no suspension top wishbone down at least to wheel center. Moreover, the body is very very low in the region of the gearbox...it looks like the space for a top wishbone is very tight or it must be placed very low... |

If you look to the following pictures (although they are not probably the more up to date ones) it seems that top wishbone attachment is slightly higher on Audi R18..
http://www.nikeride.com/pics-aplenty...i-r18-photo-2/ http://www.mulsannescorner.com/AudiR...ns2011-MF2.JPG http://www.carsendse.com/2011/03/201...di-r18-rear-2/ Maybe not a huge difference, but still something. Don´t know if they use a low gearbox like williams. But sure they are at least sacrificing suspension package more than on the R18... |

Hard to tell about the sound when the file is so compressed, as it always is on facebook. I'm thinking they might be using a silencer to keep it all quiet - and to keep us talking.
The car is drop-dead gorgeous though. |

The engine sounds like it is small displacement supercharged and turbocharged unit. It would make a lot of sense to use a supercharge to build massive low end boost, as it will be impossible to max the boost with a turbo if the engine is really that small...

Not necessary with modern Variable Geometry Turbo's (VGT) Audi and Peugeot has(had) run them for some time.

Even if they were allowed, this is 2.0L engine we are talking about. And if indeed is gasoline, gets even worse. Speculations were that they found some magic efficiency and so they are going to run high rpm with small displacement, but now the sounds are out and they do run the car at very low rpm...... unless this is not a small engine as everyone says.

That would be hilarious ... if it were all smoke and mirrors and they are running the old 5.7-liter V8 from the Carrera GT or whatever.

But I still think Turbo's is more likely than a Supercharged engine. The hybrid system will help the lag of power up till the Turbo can kick in. Let's not forgot a supercharged engine is less fuel efficient than a turbo engine. Something which has always been important at Le Mans. |

Well, I rather believe that Article 5.4.1 of the 2014 Technical Regulations explicitly allows VGTs, or "devices needed for control of (...) exhaust turbine geometry":

2.0L V4 with electric e-Turbo?
The electric motor has the same effect as a VGT by spooling the turbine in low pressure situations and when not needed the electric motor becomes a generator to charge the batteries. Also that would make the powerplant more efficent because you wouldn't need a waste-gate(the energy is turn to e-power instead of beaning released out the waste-gate). |
