The CH10/Foxtel commentary team should be:
Lead - Bill Woods Expert 1 - Neil Crompton Expert 2 - Mark Skaife Tech guy - Mark Larkham Pit reporter 1 - Aaron Noonan Pit reporter 2 - Riana Crehan That is just perfect! Except for Woods, all above are linked with the series currently anyway. And please bring back Billy Woods! He and Crompton would be fantastic. And without all the 'fangurl' added on drama that White brings. Please, please, please no Diffey, White, Beretta or Williams! Please!!?? |

A great deal for V8Supercars by the looks of it.
All this talk about Ch10.....is it just me or does it look more like Foxtel won the rights with Ten added in to satisfy the FTA angle (as opposed to now where 7 won the rights and Speed got the PayTV HD stuff?) Especially as other than the Bathurst 1000, the press release is quite vague on what the extent of the Ten deal is Also the press release says alot of "Foxtel" and alot of "Fox Sports", but no mention of "Speed" Does this mean they are seperating the V8Supercars from other motorsports on Foxtel as its own 'entity' alongside A-League and NRL etc...? Or will Speed channel 512 go the way of its American mother, and have ceased by the time 2015 comes around? A very early announcement of the deal, it looks the goods but is James Warburton perhaps looking to prove he can get things done as quickly as possible (in the face of the apparent reduced grid for 2014?) |

Cough cough cough
The Seven Network has been a strong and a positive partner for V8 Supercars over the past seven years,” said Seven CEO Tim Worner in a statement. Is that that twit Tom Williams and Berats, please give the punters a break “We have dramatically increased the quality of the television broadcasts and expanded coverage of the sport across our media platforms. Pfffftt , so self promos Please 10 and foxtel, no more Neil" his is in the marbles" Crompton, or Mark " this is championship changing Race" Skaife, keep larko, but bring in a fresh crew |

Bill Woods is contracted to 7 at the moment, with his hosting duties on that latenight light-hearted sports panel programme. Mr Rust and Mr Beattie will get a look in somewhere, and maaaybe Mr Baird. Not sure how the rest will come into it. |

Auto Action are suggesting that not ALL races will be on Ten, and if you want all live races then its foxtel or, ummm....
And the fans reactions haven't been so positive to this suggestion, labelling Warburton a Xmas Grinch. |

First of all in 2013 they introduce the ridiculous 60/60 format which is widely hated by fans and has been quickly abandoned.
For 2014 they go and tell us about the new formats for the track and street races which everyone seems to be happy with then they go and chop the Adelaide Saturday races in half, another move hated by the fans. But wait, there's more ! We've now just been told that for 2015 the V8s are moving to Foxtel and Network 10 but they're not saying what we get left with on free to air. Do the knuckleheads running V8 Supercars have teams of scientists working around the clock to disenfranchise their fans because that's what it looks like from here. |

speedcafe is suggesting that a number of events will be shown live on ten with the others delayed.
Personally i dont mind as i made the jump to foxtel this year for the AFL. although i cant tape on the T Box However im not sure this is ideal for the series, a backwards step as far as coverage is concerned, more money though, possibly it allows a little more flexibility regarding event time tabling and race scheduling. We may end up with say coverage on Sunday afternoons which includes the Saturday race and a Sunday morning race, shown delayed. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it is for those who want to watch live. however im not sure everyone wants to do that anyway (already been mentioned on here that people already dont do that) |

Could this mean the races at the Australian Grand Prix could now
become championship (points) races with the channel 10 link. |

I'm pretty sure that Bill Woods is actually working for Telstra as the Sportsfan Clubhouse is done/produced by Telstra Media (or similar). Although if Ten offered to move the show onto ONE at a more favorable time with some Telstra ads as well I'm sure that we could find the program moving quite quickly.

I have had Foxtel for 14 years and think the cost (about $2.50 a day if you get the sport package )is well worth it for the extent and depth of sport coverage. However the anti siphoning laws mean that market penetration is never going to get much above 20% and the nature of pay TV is that you don't get "casual" viewers of a sport because the range of choices offerred to a viewer is so wide.It is instructive that 2 competitions that started out as pay TV only in Australia in recent years have moved away from this telecast model either totally(Big Bash cricket) or partially (A League Football). The risk for V8SA is that they may have traded more money up front for much less long term exposure which is a big turn off for sponsors not to mention the 80% of the population that doesn't have pay TV.
The value of this deal to the sport cannot be assessed until we see the details of the free to air/pay TV split. For me personally it is a great thing.Live telecasts of all support races is a real winner. |
