Judging by the TV guide for next weekend, it does sadly look like Fox Sports live coverage of the WEC has indeed been axed

V8 Supercars back to TEN in 2015!!!!! (Merged x6)
I believe there are official (that you pay for) and .....not so official streams (that you don't) And if Fox have indeed axed WEC coverage well there goes any idea of me signing up this year. Was tempted to get full F1 and V8 coverage but WEC was the clincher and if it ain't there then no deal. |

And no more live British Elite Speedway anymore either....we get plenty of V8Supercar, F1 and MotoGP practice sessions to make up for it this year though... |

Blancpain is streamed on YouTube although geo blocking is randomly applied to both Sprint and Blancpain Endurance Series. Thankfully the races in full are up pretty quickly afterwards on YouTube. That's how I've followed the series. |

Another journo with his head in the sand. NEWSFLASH Mr Journalist, TV viewer numbers are trending down for everything whether FTA or paid and nothing you write will change that. The whole article reads like a promo for pay TV anyway.

Even though it reads like a promo, it comes across fairly unconvincingly and as a bit of a plead for people to give it a go, understandably I guess since Mr van Leeuwen gets his bread buttered from the sport and its success. But no matter the quality of the broadcast (and no one is doubting that), reality is that if people in large enough numbers aren't watching it the sport will begin to hurt.
If the PayTV deal is such a great money earner for the category, has asking prices for team sponsorship come down accordingly? Or is it still the same price as a jersey/naming rights deal in the NRL? Gunna be hard to sell signage on two cars that get watched 16 weekends a year (14 rounds, 1 GP meeting, 1 'Super' test) when viewership is under 100k viewers per round. But if I was a journo working in and around the category, I'd be asking people to 'give it a go' and not write about those kind of musings either... But if you read through the comments under that story you'll see a lot of people are not buying Mr van Leeuwen's plea. |

Just a thought - why was V8SC so against running a their test day up against the Cricket World Cup opener but more than happy to run Round 2 of the championship against the World Cup final?

1Anti siphoning legislation in Australia means that the really big Tier 1 events are never going to be pay TV exclusive in this country. This means that market penetration is never going to rise much above what it is now.40% of households is the absolute top here.People will always be able to see plenty of top level sport on FTA and will adjust their viewing to what is available. 2Yes the quality of F1,Moto GP and V8 coverage on Fox is fantastic but only the real hard core have either the time or desire for that much. The less committed fans don't want every practice session, support race etc and will tune out rather than pay for it. 3The decision by Fox to end all coverage of the WEC including highlights is terrible and is made worse by Eurosport bailing as well.Very worried we will not get Eurosport coverage of Le Mans. I doubt sponsors are going to be as patient as motor racing journalists in judging viewing numbers.Barbagello will be another test.No World Cup cricket but from now on until Bathurst there will be AFL and NRL clashes every round. |

I am not 100% certain but the author seems to have had a history of working for or with a certain motorsport category management company in Australia.

Some are willing to speculate it had something to do with a certain race held on the same date at a place they used to call Bald Hill. But we are assured that this was not the case. |

Another good night on Inside Supercars, some interesting behind the scenes footage from HRT garage including 2nd camera footage of the JC/WD confrontation.
Really good interview with Gary Rogers including asking about why he let JDub go |

It's been nice to see some of the older races. Enjoyed watching the Chinese round from 2005. Seeing Jase Richards young and fit brought a tear to my eye.

Really happy to be proved wrong. They sure left it late to put it in program.I was worried that F1 and V8 deals might cut out a lot of the other racing they show but the stuff I watch (WEC and Indycar) seems safe.
