For LMP1, no much difference in their long run pace.

Just back from a cool, breezy and for the most part rain free Silverstone. Watching track side, its quite scary how much speed both the Toyota's and even the Porsche in low-drag spec can carry thru the corners they are in a world of their own.
The new LMP2's are lovely bits of kit and sound great as well, tho they do seam to be a little bit of a handful when the wind picks up. Also its great to see how well the LMP3 has taken off, tho i would prefer a choice of engines just to add a bit variety to the sound track, could also be said about LMP2's. The only real disappointment was the V8 3.5's, for the well documented reasons the series finds its self at a low ebb, I hope it finds a way to pick its self up as it would be a crying shame to see those stunning cars disappear. |

Yes, elms too. The prospect of making a 458 competitive this year was optimistic at best, but jmw does seem to be plucky enough to make it work over a 4 hour race.

They have repaved part of the track at maggotts/beckets but that wouldn't explain the pace increase for the P1s, fantastic pace!

So sad to see this being done. Imagine the laptimes if it wasn't for the -10MJ and this aero cut?! Compare LMP1s to F1s and the WEC's cars are putting them to shame with all this constant big improvements despite being supposed to slow down. After FP1, I thought ByKolles would be embarrassingly slower than the LMP2s but on FP2 they already became faster than most of them. I wonder why ELMS's P2s are faster than WEC's? |

I wonder if we'll see 1:37's in qualifying? The ideal sectors for Toyota add up to 1:38.1 and there's probably more time to find. I donno why the ELMS prototypes are faster. Is it time of day affecting track conditions? Better drivers?

Looking at prac 2 the elms cars weren't really much quicker, only 2 cars were I think and both those teams were testing here earlier in the week.

Looks like it could be formation flying in LMP1. I just hope they show more of the other classes this year. Although I haven't climbed over the paywall this year, so I might not be watching at all.

Well I went, and to be honest the most interesting thing about the whole day was the new rallycross track and the WEC driver training thing on the infield.
The teams even in ELMS are ridiculously protectionist, you can't get near garages and everything is all fenced off. So that means a trip to the pits is rather pointless other than t go "wow, look at all those areas I cant access" The on track action was fairly weak, only impressive thing was the speed of the P1 cars. Stupid 10 minute qually for the ELMS cars, an hour long seeming 10 lap F3 race! Shan't be going again sorry, unless they change venue as Silverstone really is a complete and utter dump |

"That just about sums up my opinion on Silverstone." I couldn't agree more. It's a shame, as Silverstone used to be a good day out- when Woodcote was a chicane type used to be - but I'm afraid I must agree with my learned companions. It seems to be a malaise that follows the EffWun is All point of view. |

Would be nice to see them at Donington but it does need an upgrade to fit the whole WEC Grid in.
I've only been to Silverstone once and I don't remember it being that bad, tbh. It's a phenomenal track and watching the direction change was amazing. |

Didn't the stream have this same issue (working on app, not on PC) at the start of last year's race as well? Hopefully it's resolved quickly.

Working on the site now for me. Using her Xbox on th Live page, I clicked down down arrow on the left (don't know what it is - couldn't read it on the TV) and it started working.

Also, I'm somewhat glad to see the Fords (or least Priaulx) have come out of hiding for the weekend. A 1:55 is very quick.
